2017, tool description changes when changing a value. why

MCAM2017, edit tool...

 

The "NAME" in general under finalize changes when say the "cutting length" is changed under "define tool"

 

IE: was (1/2-13 TAPRH) .. change cutting length or any other variable it changed to (Right Handed Tap - 0.5)

 

I could see if it grabbed a "standard size" from the define page but that one is (1/2-13 UNC Right-Handed Tap - 0.5).

 

I like my descriptions. and don't want it to change at all...

Yes do a copy of any comments you want to keep before making a change.

If you open the standalone Tool Manager

Go to File > Options > General

Deselect the Enable auto - naming for assemblies, tools and holders option

It will take effect the next time you run Mastercam

I changed this setting, shut down, restarted Mastercam

 

Went to edit a drill. no change, still defaulted the name

Yes it is still broke on certain tools.

you can changed the name back to what you want after it switches to 'standard tool'

just wore work
