Has anybody here run Mastercam on the new

P4 3.2g with 2meg of onboard cache?

Its a very pricy chip, but its suppossed to

be noticably faster than the regular 3.2g proccessor.

The chip alone is nearly $1,000 (as of last week). I'd like to hear the MC dirt on this chip as well. I'm seriously considering this chip for my new rig.

Tom's Hardware Guide says it is significantly

faster than a regular 3.2 P4 if you are willing

to pay the $$$$.

They use games and industry standard benchmarks

to test comupters.

When they ordered my new box last month, I talked

my IT guy into the FX-1000 video card, but the

3.2 x 2meg P4 was no sale

I am talking them into 2 Xeon 3.2 1mb Cache and 2 gig of memeory here. I figured we are losign abotu $15,000 to $30,000 waiting on programs to crunch. It was all I needed to get the green light ot find better ones. I didnt go the Dual route ot save $3000 there and didnt go 4 gig on both to save another $4000 there.

Also, If you are looking at buying any Pentium stuff, you might want to wait a couple more weeks. Intel is going to drastically reduce the prices on February 1, 2004 for all their Pentium 4 processors to make way for the new Prescott processors.

I'm wondering if a lot of this is oging to be a moot point soon when X comes out. Being a native Windows App, I would think it would make better use of system resources, and that sure the more cache the better, but will the difference be that signifigant?
