HAAS Y axis lathe

Is anyone using one of these? Management here is looking at getting one, but I'm a little concerned about whether a MC lathe post can incorporate the extra axis.

I don't know how good it is, but it ships with MC

Many guys here are programming multiaxis lathes with Mastercam  including 5ax mill turn

Last shop I worked at had one, and the post on X8 did not work.  Perhaps they fixed it since...

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.

If we get the machine we'll get a post from In-House or Postability, I just was unsure of whether or not MC supported the extra axis...looks like they do.

Mcam can do C and Y all day long. Heck, I've used it to program parts that don't have a single turned dimension on the part.

2017 comes with a pretty good post. There were issues with fwd/reverse live tooling calls and canned cycle issues in earlier versions of the "free" post. I personally would not by a post if you are using 2017, but it depends on what type of work you plan on doing with it.
