Distance away from avoidance region

Kind of a nitpicky question, but i'm curious.  I have a "pocket" that is open on two parallel, or opposite sides and I want  to dynamic mill it.  Near one of the open sides, is a large boss I want to avoid.  I chose the boss as an avoidance region, but it appears to be "avoiding" it but still coming right up to it.  If i set stock allowance, I won't be machining the two walls i DO want to machine.  I understand that i could just create a contour on the 2 walls I want to machine, or created geometry larger than the boss to use as avoidance.  I just don't like creating geometry unless I have to, because my files get a little messy sometimes.  So what I'm asking, is; is there a way to tell it to actually AVOID that wall, instead of coming right up to it, without creating more geometry??

Added some screenshots for clarity.

If you use an Optirough path you can select the boss as a separate "Machining Geometry" set, from the faces you've chosen as your 1st Machining Geometry set. Then you can set the distance away from the boss that you wish.

Interesting.  I never would have though to use optirough for a simple, single level pocket.  I'll play around with that.
