  1. It really pains me to see MC come out with new versions and change stuff just to change something and not make any improvements in the change, then to break something that I personally use all the time. it would be nice if our requests are actually addressed and stuff fixed rather than saying we'll send it on up the chain and turn in a ticket, only for it to get lost in the great big ticket jar, that sucker has to be huge. I am not sure how many people use this for the same sort of work we do tool and die, inspection fixtures and assembly fixtures, vs mass production machine shop work but it seems this is a trend that has happened since I have been working with it for 13 years this year. Sorry for the rant but they broke my favorite button and you have to select it every single time you use it rather than turn it on and leave it like it has been in previous versions.

  3. a product called "anywhere usb" would be my best guess to fix that problem. But hopefully no one spends all this effort when they could simply update to a modern version

  4. to make mastercam change the offsets of a tool to match the tool number automatically when changing tool numbers you need your control definitions tool page set to Add to tool 0 steps; 1. go to the machine tab 2. go to machine definition 3. check out of the warning that appears 4. inside that machine definition window click the control definition button, which will open up another window 5. on the control definitions Tool page, change the tool offset registers to "add to tool" and set lenght and diameter to 0, this will cause mastercam to add 0 to your tool number and offsets and automatically use that value, so any tool number entered when creating a tool will automatically make the offsets match. then save all of the pages, check out and choose yes to replace the machine this is a machine specific setting so each machine (or control definition) will have those settings to control this functionality, so you may want to check this on each machine you program for in mastercam
