For hardened tool steel I like Dapra. I used a 1" ball insert and cut at 3000rpm & 75.0 ipm .010 deep of cut. I had tried Dijet and thought Dapra held up much longer.

how about ball bearings in the air hose or air gun or cut the bottom out of a box of screws or dowel pins and put it right side up on someones bench. My favorite is to soak down someones desk chair.

I have never had any problems with delays. I have run some programs of about 3 to 4 hrs with small move and all was well. Now my Fanuc 18M is a different story.
Hope all works out for you,
Jack
Pitching lessons cost me $700.00 this year, not to mention my high schoolers summer club team. ($800.00) I just might need a second job this year. Did I mention spikes......

Hey this is my kind of post! I have two daughters that play Softball 1 in college and 1 in high school, not to mention summer leagues. My high schooler just got a Rawlings liquid metal bat, big bucks but awesome.
I take add my 8 inch standard to whatever number I touch Z at. Example if I touch my spindle face between my standard and the work piece and have a number of 20.5... I add 8 inches to that. That would make my G54 Z offset a negative number. By the I am useing a Fanuc 18M I asume it would be the same for all.
jack
"Z" 0 is your fixture offset, spindle face to workpiece. The cool thing about presetters are once your tool in in the toolchager it is set no matter what workpiece you are running. Just like my favorite informercial "Set it and forget it"!
jack
I touch off the spindle with a 8 inch standard to the workpiece and then add the 8 inches to the offset I get. My Z offset number is a positive rather than a negative number.
Presetters are the way to go!

We have a Ikegai lathe with a Fanuc 18T control. We are having a problem with looping a program. Is there a parameter that turns on the looping? We tried using a M99 at the end fo the program, but when starting the first tool it is looking for a feedrate and alarms out. This program runs perfectly with an M30 and no looping.
Any help would be graet!

We use eLan 2000. Works the same way.. you save your files into a seperate directory (on the server) for each machine. All the operator needs to know is the file name. You can also drip feed to all machine at the same time. This software seems to work ok.
Merry Christmas

Be careful that you end up picking the right amount of holes(arcs) I had it pick up holes that I did not want to drill. example... 1/2 screw and 1/2 dowel.... depending on how the geometery is laid out. It always helps to know how many holes you need to pick and check that against the operation manager.

We are a die shop mostly automotive work.
I program 80% 2D
10% Lathe
10% 3D
20% of my time is operating a machine
We keep 2 to 4 machines running.

Try downloading the lastest driver for your video card. This should take care of your problem. I had the same problem and suffered for weeks with a blue screen. I was using a gforce card

Rob,
What would also work is a good hole chart that shows the number of each holes. Like 3/8-16 tapped hole (64x). Then you could at check how many holes were masked..... no wait what am I thinking...... hole chart nahh.
