Hello all,
I've uploaded this file (Top angle 2) to the ftp site (MCX files)
I was trying to do a surface rough pocket, but I don't want the tool to go down inside the center hole, when I put a containment boundry around that center hole, I keep getting Boundry error..
Boundaries may not intersect,0,c or be nested for z machining.
Thanks for the help
Hello all
Since the surface I'm machining is 65 rc
I would rather not have the tool plunge into the surface, possibly chipping the tip of the tool.
(Climb mill at 60 IPM and 7500 rpms)
thanks
Good Morning all and tgif
Here's how I did it...
As I stated in my original post D-2 material 58-60 RC, I know that I can get 4 to 6 thous. linear inches from the garr 350mx bem (most of the time)
So I did 3 sf parallel on the top, 3 on the cavity,1 blend on the cavity corner using the 1/2 ball and 2 leftovers using 1/4 & 3/16 bem.
Time....17.5 hrs. run time
the part looks ok, but I will have to go back and blend one area that was a mismatch on the tool transistion.
Also I'd like to thank ya'll for the help and the tips, and I can't wait to try some of the other toolpaths,,,
From the dawn of man... TOOLMAKERS RULE!!
"And this is the Best Dam web site on the web"
and I know because, "I've been to the End"
Thanks again all

html, blend toolpath 1/2 bem .005 stepover
18000 linear inches, not sure if tool will hold-up
(wear) 9 hrs. to finish blend
Cuda84, small parts are not to bad on the finish,
But large part where you have to use a Bem, and the breaks down, can be a major Pain.
1 in. Ball I'll keep that in mind.
Thank again
Gota go now.....
htm01, that what I was thing also, that was the toolpath I used on the last draw section I did.
Cuda84,(shoot for the same cusp height) not sure what you mean.
1 in ball .03 stepover for finishing. what type of toolpath
Then leftover?
Thanks

Thanks for the help.
Ok... trying... to get the picture Here..
Hello All and tgif
Just trying to create a surface, I've FTP the part to mcx files, the part is called surface help
I trying to put a surface in the bottom end of this form section, Level 400 show 2 gray arc's, that's the area I'm trying to blend, it sould be EZ
Thanks
Hello all,
I have a similar....
When creating a Fence Surface, the start angle
always goes back to zero, and there is nothing in the drop down box.
"But the start height is recalled in the drop down box when changed.
Hello all
LaszloK, I added .001 to the face of my insert and Boolean perfect.
Thanks again!
Matt,
Kannon,
I got it... thanks...
Oh.. there is one more thing I don't quite understand about Boolean...You have to recreate the geometry.. It seems to me that, If I did a Boolean remove and used the top view of the insert bountry with a depth of say .695
I would have thought that it would have pulled the insert out of the main block leaving a slot.. and the insert with its geometry.
recreating the geometry?? is it just the nature of the beast??
Oh yea...
Matt, that is what I was trying to do.
That way I pull out the inserts and also have the slots for them.
But...Anyway, I need to go back and change the ends of the inserts, after a little more thought, I don't want the ends of the insert running outside of the main block it would make the block weak in that area, so I'm doing to shorten-up the insert at least 1/4 in. so the inserts will be enclosed with-in the block.
Thanks again Matt!
