  1. thanks for the reply jimp...it is not a done thing yet, but want to convey the info if brought up...actually, i hear agies is good machine...
  2. heard a rumor today that the man is thinking about getting a agies wire edm...mostly to run, what i fear most, small wire...is mastercam very compatible with the agies?...i don't know if they use a floppy or cable or what...being a mits. man for 10 years, this may be a scary change...any feedback?? thanks... dan
  3. congrats pete, someday i hope to see a new haas lathe... dan
  4. if i had all that experience, i sure wouldn't be here... dan
  5. both of these members are right...we have 3 mits. wires and for years we were using floppy disks and are presently doing rs232 cables...works pretty good for the most part...on the fa10, we were only able to use a 144kb disk while the sx and fx were 720kb...was confusing at first..now, we use the cable, but when it isn't working good, going back to a floppy means unhooking everything and reformatting,ect...personally,by the time it takes to go to machine and go to io screen, then type program number and then turn switch to machine you are using, i could have put in a floppy and downloaded to machine...for starting out, i would stick to a floppy... dan
  6. sure wish i knew what you guys were talking about...seems to me like you should be professors or something...keep up the good work...i think!!! dan
  7. i agree with the majority...internet access is almost a must in a lot of industries...abuse on the other hand is the reason that a lot of shops won't allow access to all the employees..if or wnen the time comes bpin, i hope you are able to do an i told you so...hang in there.. dan
  8. i've been in wire for 10 + years and never saw mold...how often do you clean sludge from tanks..once a year we vacumn the system clean..have you ever heard of anyone getting a rash or breaking out from di water? sorry, not much help.. dan
  9. when i was a toolmaker, before i graduated to the cnc world,we would make our hex broaches out of carbide....of coarse they weren't that big! dan
  10. cadist, i only wish we had an option between pro e and something other, but that is not the case here... and mayday, we will be using this for mill modual and wire modual...i am from a company of around 600+ employees and our design dept.,including the design depts. of all our other divisions are doing the pro e swap so they can send a drawing to any plant in the world and they can see the 3d part of it..i'm sure this is overkill for us in the wire dept, but have to go with the flow!!!! thanks for replying.. dan
  11. thanks again people and for the record, sorry i had caps on...i was just going through guidelines again and now i know what brian meant by "was i yelling"...i'm used to emailing in caps most of the time..if i knew how to type, this may help... dan

  16. THANKS FOR THE REPLY JIMSPAC, I ONLY WISH I COULD ANSWER YOUR QUESTION...WHAT'S HAPPENING IS THAT THE COMPANY GLOBALLY IS SWITCHING TO PRO E AND I HEARD THAT WE WILL UPGRADE TO PRO ENC ALSO...DON'T KNOW SQUAT ABOUT IT SO I'M NOT SURE IF WE WILL STILL USE MASTERCAM OR WILL BE ABLE TO IMPORT AS YOU SAY...I'VE BEEN DRAWING IN MASTERCAM WIRE FOR AROUND 4 YEARS NOW, SO NOT EXCITED ABOUT CHANGING...HAD HEARD THAT PRO E CAN BE A BEAR,SO A BIT INTIMIDATED...THUS WONDERING WHAT OTHERS THOUGHT...THANKS AGAIN FOR REPLYING... DAN
  17. i know this a mastercam forum ,so forgive me if this is a no-no, but rumor has it at our company that we will switch to pro e....it's probably wrong to ask at this forum, since if i wanted pro e info, i should be in a pro e forum, but any pro's and cons from my fellow matercamians... dan
  18. thanks CAMmando, i tried what you replied, since i too had a problem with multiple chains and it worked...i don't know about you, but i sure liked version 8 better than version 9, for what i do, it was alot more user friendly...again thanks for the speedy reply....hi brian!!! dan
  19. hey keith, i can answer the where the hell is decorah question..it's a town way up in the northeast corner of iowa..about 20 miles north is minnesota and 30 miles east is wisconsin...i'm about 13 miles south of decorah... hi brian...wish i could help on your question but i'm more of a wire man and only know enough about milling to be dangerous..sounds like the people you work for are asking alot out of you... dan
  20. thanks for the replies guys.... i think i'm going to like this forum alot and will be checking it daily.. dan
  21. i've heard of autocad and we presently run mastercam, but i never heard of sap and lotus notes...personally i like mastercam wire and i dabble in mill...nothing like creating a 3d drawing and see it cut away the material...what does sap stand for? dan
