  1. Can you add the green check mark to rmb?
  2. Ok, I know I'm missing the obvious here... How do I add the Snap to menu?
  3. JCM, it's the blue ball with white plus sign in the middle--in the "Edit" category.
  4. I know I'm a little late on this one, but what am I missing? I think Ron's right--it's not a bug, it's working properly. If you want the arc to lie in the top plane, then project your 1st line(the one drawn in the front cplane) to the top plane. Otherwise, it's like cutting through a cylinder on an angle--you're going to get a spline for an edge curve at the cut. I actually like the feature the way it is now--no more picking the 2 lines to make a custom c-plane just to make and arc tangent to them. Not griping at you, jctjct. I'm just not sure I understand the problem. Maybe throw a file of what you're trying to do on the FTP site? scott not teh fastest yugo on teh lot
  5. This shop sounds pretty much like Hevy's--the boss lets us use cell phones and pretty much make our own schedule as long as we get the work done on time and don't scrap stuff out for stupid reasons. On the other side, the three of us have been here for a long time, work well together, and try not to abuse our privileges. It's seems its really tough to find honest, hard workers any more. We just got rid of a guy because he would talk on his cell phone all day(all calls were important, of course). When he scrapped stuff(most of the time) he would say "oh well, I get paid by the hour". And usually, one of us would have to fix it anyway. Round here, at least, he seems to be the norm!?!?!? scott
  6. Charles, good call on adding "accept" and "end selection" to the right mouse button. I also added most of the point selection buttons(see Peter's post above) to my rmb, along with autocursor. This way they're only a right click away when I'm not using autocursor(which is rare). Another tip if you need to copy a solid to a different level. In the op manager, right click the solid you want to copy and choose "Duplicate". Then you can right click on the duplicate solid and choose "Attributes" to change its level or color. You can also do all the standard solid ops from this menu--very handy.
  7. yep, it's pretty annoying that I can't choose the entities I want to plot. The way I get around it is to hide the stuff I don't want to show up on the paper. If anyone knows a better way around it, I'm all ears. scott
  8. Wow, you learn something new every day. Thanks for the quick response guys. scotty
  9. I put a file in the MC9 folder called "scotthead chain.MC9 Can anyone figure out why I can't trim the (2) green arcs together properly? I cheated it and got a chain that will work, but it's bugging me that I can't do it right. What's going on?
  10. Mold100, yeah, they boogered the threads a little. I thought of hand tapping with a short tap. The customer wants them burned, so hand tapping will be my next(and last) resort if Mits can't help. Dan, the trodes are actually on square holders, so I can chuck them the same way. Problem is that my notes on the original job got tossed last year when I briefly left the company. I have no idea which way to chuck the trodes up. I tried measuring the thread form, but could still end up with the electrodes 180 degrees off. Brian, actually our sinker doesn't have the high speed c-axis...no helical burning for me . The trodes are specially made so I can do a side burn with (1) Epack, and no orbit. Did I mention that the cavity is split down the center of the threaded hole? Sorry about that. Thanks for the concern guys. Hopefully Mits will call back today. scott
  11. They crashed a mold last night that I side-burned some 2-64 threads into(simple side burn, no orbit). Now I have to touch them up. Problem is, I can't remember how to use the c-axis to make sure I get the electrode oriented properly(so as not to cross-thread them). Anyone out there who can walk me through this? thanks in advance, scott Mits EX-8
  12. dude, not trying to sound rude here, but have you read any of the documentation? Or questioned your reseller? Mine has sure been a great help. You can set whatever hotkeys you want. I've only been playing with X for about a week now, 1 hour every morning. I'm only slightly slower with geomety creation than I was in V9, and expect to be just as quick by the time my post gets back from the reseller.
  13. update, I get the error message on trying to read ANY step file that I've written out of Mastercam.
  14. I don't do this too often. I need to write a step file for a customer to bring into autodesk inventor. I do the File, Convertors, STEP, Write File thing, and get no errors on the screen. When I try to read the newly created STEP file, I get an error that says: "Body Fault Error, RTTODC--duplicate child." Happens in both V9 and X. The original solid model has no errors when analyzed. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanx, scotty
  15. Bruce, I'd go with Psycho's or Lou's ideas. Lou's looks pretty cool. We use measurement cameras on some of our operator molds. Ours, at least, are not very accurate. The operators still manage to smash molds with cameras on them by putting core pins in backwards or in the wrong holes. IMHO, the camera should be able to tell when a core is in the wrong hole, for crying out loud. We also use a measurement camera to measure steel tube length protruding from a medical molded part. The parts go by on a conveyor and the camera is supposed to watch the tube length. If if gets too far out of wack, the machine should stop and send an error message to our mechanic. Lets just say we still have to 100% inspect them. Camera = worthless. scotty
  16. I've often wondered this myself. Like typing LTSCALE in autocad, right? I've never found out how to do it in Mastercam. scotty
  17. Thanks, Pete. I will do just that.
  18. You know that little thing in the bottom left corner of the X graphics window that reads: Gview:ISO WCS:Top T/Cplane:Top ? What is it called? I need to change the color of it so I can see it against my light backround. I can't seem to find it anywhere in the Settings, Configuration...Colors list.
  19. quote: What am I doing wrong?I was picking the lines too close to the point. Oh, well. Class dismissed. scott
  20. You guys cam through, like always Heavy, that's exactly what I want. UK and Storky, I tried your method, but am getting a radius of 0.0049 in the corner. What am I doing wrong? Tnanni, you're method is simple. I can't believe I didn't think of it. :puts dunce cap on and goes to sit quietly in corner: scott
  21. Morning all. All of a sudden, I can access the FTP again(see Thad's post--I'll play around with your file a little later, Thad). I put a file in the MC9 folder called "arc thru point.mc9". It's basically 2 lines that I need to fillet. The catch is that I'm not given a radius, only a point the fillet has to pass through. What you see on the screen is exactly what I have on my old hand-drawn print(minus the dims). I had no luck. Hopefully you guys will. Thanks in advance, scott
  22. I know I'm a little late here, and for whatever reason I can't access the FTP, but... What if you switch the tool from a bull to a flat? I use bulls for alot of my 3D paths lately, and sometimes they cause mastercam to get goofy. I have no idea why it should even matter, just a hunch. scott
  23. only (1) little Defiance 3-axis mill and (1) Mits EX8 sinker learning the Mits FX10 wire now
