  2. If you get the glass linear scales get the micron options for your machine software also. then you will have 0.0001 metric and 0.00001 english. that's what on my 35k Okuma. . . 35k
  3. kens1, we have a chip blaster 1200psi at 8gpm. this is the coolant path: suction from machine tank pump 1 output of pump1 thru a 100 mesh bag filter into chip blaster settling tanks suction out of settling tanks with pump 2 pump2 100psi output thru a large 5 micron bag filter then thru a 1 micron cartridge filter then into into a three piston progressive cat pump 1200psi output then thru the spindle. using Chemstar 60LF. never use polypropylene filters they have an affinity for products in the coolant use polyester filters! hope this helps. . . 35k
  4. FYI, New drivers 3dx. article says you can drive any application. http://www.deskeng.c...cles/aabanh.htm 35k this is a beta down load!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Josh, programming gets the job from planning. then programming goes back to engineering to get all details they forgot. programs are written and verified then all programs go on the server. manufacturing manager gets the job package with the drawing, setup sheet, tool list, and the process operation sequence list for all operations. he distributes then to the operators. operators dnc programs from the server there are no floor edits or tweaks. If something needs a change it can only be done by programming. this prevents crashes and maintains the MasterCam association with the nc program, tool list, and the process list. so we use them and loose them. the only thing back loaded to the server are the machine parameters once a month. hope that helps . . 35k
  8. Newbeeee, It's an okuma md45vae 35,000 rpm nurbs and hi nc prosessors Hsk63F with the micron option. Baladyne active balancer, Renshaw probe, and Blum laser tool setter. I think there are only six in the US. Thanks for asking. 35k
  9. Hockey Guy, in aluminum i use destiny vipers with stealth coating. .500 3flt .625loc at 30,000rpm at 1400ipm. i've never used insert cutters because of the rpm i run at. 35k
  10. Marshal just finish a job. 6061 al .031 thick double sticky tape. 35000 rpm at 10.514 ipm with a 1/16 single flute down cut carbide endmill and an exair cold gun. 0.0003 chip load no burrs!!!!!!!!!!! the tool is from harvey tool. . . 35k
  11. +100 on harvey tools! look at page 90 and 91. http//:www.harveytool.com 35k
  12. Marshal, Questions for you. tool holder what type? (shrink, hydraulic, collet, or set screw) spindle bearing condition? machine age? the reason i ask is the difference you saw between 30 & 45 helix angle could be a spindle bearing problem. only three coatings i use on aluminum viper stealth , zirconium , and amorfic diamond , or uncoated polished carbide. 35k
  13. JP, i guess you would have seen the articles if you did not spend most of your life here! 35k

  15. Editor's Pick: CNC Software Unveils Mastercam X5 by Anthony J. Lockwood | Published November 17, 2010 Dear Desktop Engineering Reader: CNC Software is one of the oldest companies in the PC-based CAD/CAM industry, having begun earning its chops in the early '80s. Its flagship CAM system, Mastercam, has an installed based of more than 150,000 worldwide. Designers and NC programmers use it for doing milling, turning, 2- and 4-axis wire EDM, router programming, plasma cutting, laser work, and 3D design and drafting at places ranging from one-person shops to heavyweights like Boeing and Sikorsky, according to the company. Just the other day, the company released it newest version, Mastercam X5, as well as the newest version of the complementary programming system Mastercam Router X5. Mastercam X5 introduces new dynamic milling techniques, new multiaxis machining capabilities, and something called Smart Hybrid Finishing. The latter is said to blend two cutting techniques in a single toolpath intelligently. What this means for you is that your toolpath will evaluate your model's shape then switch between cutting and machining, letting you achieve a better finish with less work. Mastercam Router X5 offers enhancements in automatic toolpathing and block drill support that are intended to improve your shop floor productivity. Automatic toolpathing now has an option that can read in a project and then automatically program toolpaths with presets of your choice. In the area of block drill support, the software's FBM (feature-based machining) drill has a number of enhancements that should minimize the need to change tools all the time. You can learn more about many of the new features in Mastercam X5 and Mastercam Router X5 in today's Pick of the Week write-up. But to really get the idea, hit the link at the end of the write-up to go to the CNC Software website, then watch some of the many short videos posted there. (Hint: There are also videos directly associated with products.) The underlying philosophy of Mastercam software has always been to provide a flexible, practical set of tools for the shop, whether you're a machinist or an engineer or whether your job means complex or simple parts. The new X5 versions of Mastercam and Mastercam Router sound like they are right in line with that vision. Thanks, pal. -- Lockwood Anthony J. Lockwood Editor at Large, Desktop Engineering 35k :D
  16. James, here are two i use. http://www.vektek.com and http://www.pascaleng...ucts/index.html hope that helps. 35k one more http://www.compactautomation.com
  17. Chris, Erowa and 3R big$ but worth it. i've got 12k tied up in one setup. 35k
  18. mark h, i think you can open an mc7 file with mx mr2. i don't know if that helps. 35k
  19. mpsubrep for me. got a part running right now, subbed out 50 times from one part program. this is a 20 hour run time for 50 parts. think how many tool changes i saved in 50 parts. the most i have done is 625 sub from one part 25 rows by 25 columns. okuma's let you change the offsets on the fly. i have used this highly modified post sense mc7 it's been updated with every release. saves lots of time and great for lights work.

  22. +1 to Doug, that's the ones i use in 6061. 35k
  23. I have used them and they can hold 0.00005 they are very good at what they do. 35k
