Yes we anneal 5530 at 400deg F 4hour ramp to 400 deg hold at 400 for 4hrs ramp down to ambient at 50 deg per hour. this material will maintain its properties up to 500 deg F and yes its plastic !!!!!!!

We machine it everyday. carbide drills and diamond coated endmills from harvey tools. it will chip with dull tools. the 5530 torlon is hydroscopic and will change dimensions when it drys out you can bake it to speed up the dry out. we do this when we have to hold +/-0.0001 this material in expensive. hope this helps.

Dwayne,
i did this before. i had to add a profile on the edge of an existing part that was 65RC A6 tool steal. i ground a small wheel by mounting it in a tool holder and mounted the diamond dresser to the table at 90deg to the wheel. i created the tool path in the front view. created the profile with lead in and lead out. then i translated the geo. about .0005 in x about 40 times then i connected the end points with line to give me a one tool path. chained the tool path top view in incremental with the plain mask off and comp off. i hope this helps.

I use a lot of small metric roll taps in alum. rigid tapping with taps .9mm to 1.4mm in inch mode. on a 1.4mm x .3 i use 1500 rpm at .01181102 pitch. my control will take 8 dec. places. with small taps .0001 ether way is alot. at your depth of .130 deep or 11 revolutions or .0011 . use more places if your control will handle it. i start at .05 above the hole. i use a 1.25mm carbide circuit board drill for the hole. hope this helps

i use mpsuprep everyday for several different machines. its been modified a great deal but i've used it sense version 7 its the only post we use.
it has been modified for different machine types. it can post as a subrep or with out. it will let you tell it the subrep distance in x or y and you can tell each tool how many times to repeat. if you turn off the subrep options it looks like a regular post. it will let you start with any wcs and sub out from there. it will let you mix subreps. lets say i have a part with singular features and multi pockets on a grid of known spacing. so i sub the singles one time and the multi pockets say 12 times - post done !!! again we use this post every day , 14 machines 3 programmers. the post has been upreved all along up to the latest MC release. my $0.02 worth.

hope this is released before 8/31/07 the day our maintenance expires. it will make it easer to sell the reason for maintenance to corporate again !!!!. look at all the upgrades we got for last years maintenance.

Greg,
use the mpsubrep post. run tool path one time and let the post handle the rest. you can run 1 part with the block skip on or as many as your control will allow with it off.

I complaned about this in an other thread about 2 weeks ago. today i had a very complex part i pgm in MC7 in 1999. i read it into XMR2 saved and read it into X2. added 5 new features regen post. it will run all week end. customer is really happy and has more parts for us to up rev that were all written in MC7. these files are about 17 meg. nc files. i'm glad i did'nt have to reprogram them. and yes file read into XMR2 perfect with all geo and tool paths intact.
hope this helps.
