  1. Oppiz, Is mastercam able to run on the machine your are trying to launch the linker on? If so maybe you can send us your mastercam.ini file to review as there might be some clues in there. Have you tried to run the linker on another machine? If the machine can launch Mastercam then the linker should work. I'll look into this some more.
  2. All, We are struggling to keep up with multiple forums and media streams so please, please use the Mastercam forum to post your issues and questions. There is also a non maintenance section to post in if you are having issue getting your account linked so you can still get our attention. You can also email [email protected] if you need some assistance. You must create an account on the new forum and then link your newly created account with your SIM to complete registration and then be able to access the public beta downloads. Once you create your account and verify it you will get prompted with a dialog that gives you a link to download the linker - it is an exe so depending on your settings it might get trapped. If so we can send you a ZIP file all you need to do is email [email protected]. the account linker is also available at: https://cnc.mastercam.com/en-us/Support-Downloads-Drivers-and-Applets. Once your account is linked access to the downloads should be granted. Remember to read the What's new and Readme files found in the documentation folder upon installing X8. We look forward to hearing what you think.
  3. gutty, what email? I will have to followup with those who control our emails and newsletters as well as our social media outlets to see if anything went out. I know they were planning on it but I've been a tad busy and haven't followed up on it. Thanks for the reminder!
  4. Matt, I see we received it and one of my guys has looked at it and it looks like it was forwarded for another set of eyes to check out. I will followup with him and have him get back to you today.
  5. All Mastercam X7 MU1 downloads have the Smoothing hotfix built into them. The MU1 being delivered through the Auto Update Service also contains the smoothign hotfix.
  6. bucktruck are you running X7? If so can you give me some idea as to the issue you had or are having?
  7. Thanks for the information Calliespro. Have you or can you send us a part file that you have had problems with? If so send us a zip2go file and send it to [email protected]. That way we can review your system specs and the part. Also, can you provide some information about your work flow, not just in Mastercam, but all applications you might have open or using at the same time? The more we have the better we can try to duplicate a similar environment that you are working in. Are your parts being save locally or on a network?
  8. Bucktruck and Calliespro, if you have issues you are concerned about and would like a status please feel free to email [email protected] and we can look them up for you and help you figure out what you should install or not install to meet your needs. Or if you are aware of an issue and want to make others aware, please feel free to do so. It's a whole lot more productive for those reading this thread. Based on our interactions with customers many of them HAVE installed X7 and ARE safely and effectively using X7.
  9. For the surface gouging issue please see this thread: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=75659
  10. In Mastercam and Mastercam for Solidworks X7 MU1 there is a repotred problem with Smoothing Settings. These are on the Arc filter / Tolerance page for surface toolpaths. (In the old-style dialogs, you can reach them by clicking the Total Tolerance button.) This problem could cause a gouge in your part. If your toolpath motion (not the approach and retract) includes rapid moves, Mastercam might not create a retract before the rapid move. Please verify your part and inspect such moves closely. The work around is to turn off the Smoothing option and regen the part. We are currently investigating the part files that were sent to us and will be working on a fix for immediate release. You will be notified of the availability of the fix via the Auto Update Service and via CNC Software’s social media outlets. If you do encounter this issue, please feel free to send us your part files so we can review them and add them to our test database.
  11. Ray, there is more then one post that support the Renishaw productivity + package. Your reseller can get access to them and you can modify your existing post as well. Not ALL installed X7 posts have been modified for Renishaw as of now. All the Renishaw Post Processors available in the stand alone package should also be available with the Mastercam package. Hope this helps!
  12. We have just released Mastercam X7 SP2 and it is available via the Automatic update feature or on the Downloads page of Mastercam.com. This is NOT a full install and it must be installed on either X7 or X7 SP1. The Auto Update feature will update X7 or X7 SP1 to X7 SP2. The version number is 16.0.8.0 and the maintenance date is the same as X7 4/30/13. There are three ways to learn of an update: A Mastercam update bubble will show in the lower right system tray area when you launch Mastercam. You can click on this to activate the Update Manager. You can check for updates from the Start menu – Start\Mastercam X7\Check for Updates and then follow the instructions. You can start Mastercam and use the Update Mastercam menu option under the Help menu. This function is documented in the X7 What’s New and can be found in your mcamx7\documentation folder. After checking for updates, you should be prompted with a dialog telling you that the X7 SP2 update is available. Just click the install button to launch the update. Make sure to close Mastercam prior to clicking the install button. Because this is a patch install, and the size is around 30MB, it should be much faster to download then the Previous updates. The download will start and when complete it will launch the install. Follow the prompts to update Mastercam. The X7 SP2 Readme file with list of fixed items is attached here as well. For those running a localized version of Mastercam, the update mechanism will not worked as described above and instead take you to your local resellers website or the Mastercam downloads page. This update is also available for download on the Mastercam.com downloads site at: http://mastercam.com/Support/Downloads/MastercamX7/Default.aspx ReadMe.pdf
  13. Kevin, did you see this thread: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=72918 There was an issue with X7 release where if you changed MTB files and did any customization with toolbars and such the registry would get too large and would cause Mastercam to crash upon startup. Check the thread in the link above. You have to be comfrotable editing your registry. If not ask your reseller or our support staff for help. This is fixed in SP1, but the registry could still be an issue if it was messed up prior to installing SP1.
  14. JeffT, if you are seeing this message when starting X7 refer to this post in this thread: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=72865&st=20#entry851518 Delete the 4 mw*.ini file and you should be good to go.
  15. JP, can you fill me in on the tool issues? Is someone here working with you?
  16. kdgrills, feel free to drop me a PM with your comments and issues and I will see if I can't help out. I want to make sure we are aware of your issues.
  17. Newbee, thanks for the response and I understand where you are coming from completely. My point was simply, some folks have more problems then others and figuring out WHY is the challenge. Many times it is something unique to their setups or configuration and other times it is the software. We are here to help and try to figure that out the best we can and sometimes it takes longer then we would like. Trying the software out on your own IS productive, when time allows obviously and allows for a good decision to be made whether the time to use a new version is right or not for your individual company. Unfortunately I'm sure some things get figured out and lost in these threads and those things could be something keeping someone from updating, which is why it makes sense to review the release yourself. The only thing we have at this point and time would be to run the Demo/HLE version. This would allow you to use the software, learn it, inspect it, etc but wouldn't help with taking jobs back and forth from work due to the file format of the Demo/HLE version. We are moving forward with a software security solution and one of the items on the list is to allow the temporary transfer of licenses so that you can go home and work without dragging a key around.
  18. HG, so it only happened once, after the update? No crashing now?
  19. Thanks Hockey Guy! Does it crash on exit every time or only sometimes? Next time it crashes on exist can you post or send up your even log so we can take a look?
  20. This change started with X6 due to the installer and methods we incorporated. I don't have the particulars as to why, I believe it had something to do with the Sps and MUs having to be install on the main product and because of that no mechanism to just uninstall the SP pieces. It's all or nothing.
  21. Anyone having issues with X7, please, please make sure to report them to us or your reseller so we can review them and work on addressing them. For those not wanting to install because someone is having issues, install it and make your own decision. Your previous version can stay up and running. We have many user that are up and running and doing fine. When issues arise, we need to trouble shoot them and figure out the cause. Sometimes it is in the software, other times it is not.
  22. Patternmaker - How did you install X7 SP1? Was X7 already installed? Did you uninstall? We are chasing down a report of SP1 crashing on exit and so far everyone installed SP1 as a standalone and not on top of X7. We can't duplicate that here ourselves yet, but we are still trying. The more details you can provide the better.
  23. Kevin, The answer is NO. SPs will have to be installed on top of the main X7 release and will be listed separately just like in the past.
  24. Gcode nailed it. All SPs will require the main product to be installed first. Downloads will still be available in the traditional method.
