  1. @crazy^millman @Aaron Eberhard Here is the program. 3AXIS_with_rotaryIndexer.mcam
  2. Yep, that is what I am using. Mastercam is detecting small holes. Bigger one is not detecting.
  3. @David Colin I am unable to select holes in the operation. Small holes, Mastercam can figure. But little larger like the middle big hole shown in the above picture, Mastercam is not able to figure that out.
  4. @AHarrison1yes, the image quality on top. I felt like I was doing something wrong. The file is actually small. I just have to make 5 holes. @JobntWhile simulating in Mastercam. Have not happened this before,
  5. Is my feed rate too low or too high? My spindle RPM maxes out at 4000. Workpiece material is Aluminum. I am peck drilling first and then circle pockets to open the hole. Thank you for your help in advance!!
  6. Any videos or tutorials anyone know for mill -turn?
  7. I am very new to making lathe program. I have to program a hemisphere for production, turn an ID. Here is the picture. SO far, I was able to program a bit. But it feels like the program is not good enough. Axis/spindle combination is lower and left. If anyone could help me that would be awesome. I am attaching file as well. Issues I am facing is all the time, there comes the warning that my tool is embedded in stock. If I change rough direction, it won't work at all. Here is the file. hemisphere.mcam
  8. @David Colin So you used Toolpath transfer option to rotate it. Whenever the tool rotates, we just put 'M21' there. Makes sense. I am still doing that drilling operation. Once that is done, I will come back here.
  9. Perfect @David Colin. Thank you. Let me take a look at this.
  10. Good morning and happy Labor Day! I was out yesterday. But, this is very good insights. @David Colin I have 2023 version of mastercam. FIle is of newer version. So, i am not able to open it. @crazy^millman To prerform transfer toolpath I must have atleast one toolpath. But, I think I stumbled upon another problem while trying the method above. Made Top plane, created curve all edges. Hit the drill toolpath, time to select hole --->but I cannot. I am guessing the cylinder is round. so the holes are not flat but curved and that is why mastercam is not picking up those holes. here is the screenshot of what is happening. I found this post online------ I understood verisurf is the way to do this so downloading the tools and hopefully, it will be resolved. Also, I am very new to mastercam, so I apologize for this all-small issues. But I am quick learner. Hopefully, in the future, I will help others as well.
  11. Okay, so I am trying to add M21 lines. Question is where? I have a cylinder with 4 holes at an angle of 90 degree. Top hole is in the top plane. As my 3axis mill does not have in built rotary, I am not able to rotate the part. I am trying to unroll, drill, add M21 to roll. but the drill toolpath is not working at all. This is kind of confusing, but if anyone have used pulse indexing programming on cylinder or something like that with 3Axis mill (I have protrak but any 3 axis is fine), if you can share a file, I can take a look and will make everything a lot easier and lot helpful.
  12. No idea. I trained myself from the pdf available on this website. 5 axis book for 2023 was free. Mastercam Univerdsity has few 2019 videos and some pdf's as well.
  13. That's the main issue I am having tough time understanding. why tool comes down at the wrong location? Is it because I did something wrong or because wireframe cannot rotate like the part rotates, gets cut, and goes back to original position?
  14. Hello all, I am new to Mastercam. I just started learning mastercam 4th axis from the pdf of mastercam 5axis. THe tool in 2axis, follows the 2D path perfectly. But in 4th axis, the path of tool and the tool path does not match. I am attaching few screenshots, to understand this better. ss_1 : toolpath looks good. It's in the wireframe, proper place. ss_2 Going to verify now. ss_3 Is not starting where I wanted. ss_5 is completed pocket. ss_4 the axis rotated and now the pocket is in the place. What is happening here?
  15. THank you @Rekd, for security purposes, I am not allowed to share any files and Thank you @crazy^millman, I tried, and it worked. The parts I want to machine was selectable.
  16. How do you do the opposite. When I hover over the part, it selects the entire surface. I want to break the surface so that I can chose different surface and machine differently. I imported it from solidworks
  17. Hello and Good Morning! I have a plate looking like a pie (removing that pie form the whole circular billet). After facing, I am using 2D Dynamic mill to cut the edge. Parameters seems to be correct, however, the toolpath is not generating. It says invalid NCI. any help here, what could be the problem? Thank you in advance!
  18. @AHarrison1, yes, I checked with them. Pulse indexer is supported. @Leon82, Okay. so just put in M21 when we want to pulse index and that's it. David Colin, for security purposes, I cannot share the file. Do you have any links, where I can refer to tweaking the post for that?
  19. Hello all, Thank you in advance for taking time to read and answer to my question. I am new to Mastercam and learning all day, everyday! So, I have a PROTRAK SMX controller, Mill from southwestern industries and a pulse indexer from HAAS! And they are all attached together and working. Question is: How can I program from Mastercam to pulse the indexer. We have few programms that works like: 1) The program is run 2) pulses the indexer 3) indexer rotates & parallelly program waits for pulse back. 4) when pulse is back, program runs again. Now, I do not know how to make the program so that it can give pulse to indexer. Untill now, I figured to use M21. I can just edit the program manually and edit in mastercam code expert, just a simple line M21 ( I have not yet checked if that is the code that will work in southwestern) but I was thinking if there is a way to do it in mastercam automatically. Thank you, Again!!!
