Peter,

Center drills where the first tools that I made MCX files for in Mill. Actually I had them drawn already for the previous CAM system. I didn't care for their stock ones either. I think it's kind of funny how much detail goes into a center drill in the Lathe module though.
I also have been doing this for my Port Contour cutting tools, as I need them.
Small potatoes in the grand scheme of things, but worth mentioning.
It sure does. I just go into the Tip Comp and change the angle to 180°. Little white lies...
I must admit that I have not made a formal complaint to QC. I suppose I assumed ( and yes, I know what assumtions get you) this "glitch" isn't something new.
In fact I just tried it in 9.1 (hence, not new) and the angle on the boring bar defaults to 180°. But the acceptable range is .1-89° before it will preview the tool.
Correction on my part:
I did some more research and found that the NVS 280 is also available in a PCI-E variety as well as AGP.
But they are still 2D cards with multi-display support. The FX line might suit you better. And faster, seeing as you would have some actual support from the graphics card helping you out. Right now I'd say the CPU is doing all of the work rendering as well as calculations of toolpath.
stanektool,
Not to nit-pick but the NVS series is about as good as onboard graphics. They are 2D cards. And if they are 280 models, they are PCI cards, not PCI-E cards. Much lower bandwidth.

Doug,
Does the tool you're using have a corner radius (i.e. bull mill)? If so check that the "Tip comp." in the Helix Bore Parameters is set to Tip, not Center.

When we bought our YCM XV-1020A back in March of '05, the tech that came in for the install said we could use PCMCIA adapter cards that accept Compact Flash memory modules as well as the ATA cards. Does anyone use the Compact Flash method?

Just curious, why drop ver 8 support in X? It was in the initial release, so it would have been extra work to take it out of MR1, no? dontrust is correct. I just checked a SP1 Update 3 install and it has the ability to Save As '*.mc8' while my test MR1 install does not.
Update:
I uninstalled MR1 and reinstalled it to C:mcamx, same error reported. Guess it didn't matter after all. I'm a NetHASP user, is anyone else that is having this error?
Feels like pulling at straws.
I got the same error as bbrown01.
If I go to 'Settings->Run User Application->getxversion->GetXVersion.dll->Open' the About Mastercam X box fades in nicely.
My install dir is C:Program Filesmcamx, not sure if it matters.
