    That works fine... Learn something new everyday...

     

    I still like the old way because it's easy to view where your at in the programming process "on the fly" without stl's being saved as meshes in the file.

  2. The Rest Roughing is fine.....

    I always use Xform,STL to view my "as machined"

    part to see where stock is left or if I missed something. Kind of hard with another STL lying over top of the one I want to "see"...... bonk.gif

  3. I'm seeing this problem in X4 MU3.....

     

    I have an .STL model saved (OP4_REST ROUGH1_375.STL) for Surface High Speed Rest Roughing (compute remaining stock from CAD file)

    I also have an "as machined" .STL with a different file name (OP4_1.STL)

    Now,, if I go to Xform, STL, both STL files show up even though I only select "OP4_1.STL" to view my part "as machined"

    Is there a way to "blank out" the Rest Roughing STL???

     

    Is this possibly a bug in X4???

  4. I went to the one put on by McamNW yesterday..

    Lots of good stuff coming!!!

    The new Dynamic mill toolpaths are awesome.

    Also 5-ax circle mill will be very usefull..

     

    On the downside,,, Tim said that CNC is working on MMT but it will not be in Mastercam for at least 2 more years!?!?!

    The multi turning-milling machines are the wave of the future, how can they keep ignoring this???

    Anyone remember MATSS??? rolleyes.gif

  5. Well said Ron,,, I totally agree....

     

    You should get hold of any and all books, software,

    and info possible. You CAN learn alot without a machine in front of you.

     

    And as I always say --- Read, read, read, until your eyes bleed!!!! wink.gif

    We draw and scale all of our tools with the spindle

    (A whole other subject...)

    With the default settings in verify, the tools look like friggin' stop signs! (and verify that way too!) banghead.gif

    Always have to switch "Tool Profile" from "As Defined" to "Auto" and keep tool tolerance way down.....

    That's what we do......

    Too many chances for something BAD to happen using multiple offsets. (I've personally seen it happen!!)

    On occasion we "might" have to change a D offset to something different if getting weird tool deflection or something like that.

    (we'll just do that at the machine)
