  1. for me i usually go to the college or university near me for books designed for training.
  2. the only real prob i've seen the the tree..is chips and the tool carasels being inside the machine..but otherwise great machines for the price
  3. edit the post..where ever these is a spindle speed output at a line forcing the mo5..if it's already stopped it will have no effect..and if not..it will always stop.. simple enough
  4. i don't remember the answer to this..but it's not mastercam..but you have to change the settings in windows to not interfear with what m,astercan is doing..darn if i can't remeber..but perhaps this might point you in a direction to look..but it's a windows prob..not a mastercam prob.
  5. what i do is set my chanfering tool dia to the smallest dia od the tool..and use my z depth to make the chamfer size.. then it should be well..assuming your tool is making the proper rad and is not bigger than the corner rad your trying to produce....you might have to account for the rad on the corner of the incert for your z depth if it is too large..but it really works great and easy to compute too.. hope that helps
  6. personally..i have been using mastercam off and on since version 3.. i'm no expert..as i said off and on..but i have allways sold my bosses on mc..it's simple..the best thing mastercam has to offer is much more than the package itself..but rather it's a growing company..since version 3 when i started..and i've used versions 3 3.3 4 4.1 4.2 6 6.1 6.2 7.0 7.2 8.0 8.1 9 and 9 sp1 and the company is always growing and expanding..always improving..and the companys who stay with master cam can only benifit from this..not to menion it's relativaly cheep in comparison to packages that do what it does but are one level up.. i think mastercam is the right place to be if you want your money to grow and be a good investment..not to mention the great suport they have..and a prooven track record that see no slowing in the coming years towards it's package and it's costomers.. this is the real reason one gets on board with mastercam.. thanks for my 2 cents
  7. only kinda worked... it appears to post ok..but i always get an error message when it's done... about the files not matching or something..and then it aborts..but the nc file is there..weird [ 08-27-2002, 10:15 PM: Message edited by: Kerry ]
  8. thanks will try that today
  9. i can'ty seem to get my old post to work in version 9.. do i have to change some thing? or i have to re-edit the post from mastercam 9 again?
  10. is there a 5 axis post included with mastercam? my company has 8.1 i think anyways when i got some free time i wanna try to see if i can do 5 axis..or how it works.. i think i nead a post to play with it? for tyhe params and stuff? so i'm not really concerned what machine it's for but rather that it's already setup for it.. otherthans perhaps changing the controle axis..i think..lol thanks for any info [ 07-11-2002, 08:15 PM: Message edited by: Kerry ]
  11. Kerry

    inconel

an hidrolic tool holder..for center holding will dril the hole close to exact with the drill straight in..expencive but the difference is quite woth it to have one around for special jobs. but like the previous message..heat is the prob with that material..and my exp says a bit abrasive due to it's toughness..
  12. if 40 too old to learn to surf? lol
  13. forgot to ask..where do i put it in the post? or does it matter? do i nead a : or = between them? do i nead the .H or just H [ 02-16-2002, 01:06 PM: Message edited by: Kerry ]
  14. can i have your iso post? i have a heidenhein one..not sure if it will suit you..it has thing i don't like..as i work on the same machine...but it doesn't suport my rotary table..only indexing..so not a biggy.. the cycles come out in the standard heidenhien format..while the one i work on uses alot of the q params..so some times i change the cycles..since i like the q param way better..the r valuses and things are closer to a fanuc style..where r is the absolute ref point..rather than an incremental point from the initial call position.. anyways if you [email protected] enough to change in the mail for me
  15. thanks..for the questions and for the answer..since i have the same pain and didn't realize i could do this.. i figured i was just missing some thing in mastercam itself..hehe
  16. the manauls are now on the cd's..and i heard they were working on the same thing for the posts..at least for those who like to play with them.. is there any truth to this? and if so..how is it going..when might one see it come out?
  17. metric? all i have to do is convert it? lol doesn't sound too bad..the tool change i got worked out now in the other..wonder if i'm up to combining posts..hehe thanks will give er a shot..the tool change is pretty easy..you have a tool define line (i imagine)..to at 2 more lines to initial line and the tool change should work..i think...
  18. on a machine i use to work on..we just used the G54,G55..etc settings then master cam positions are free to the programmer.. we did alot of parts on one machine..and found that we ran out of fixture offsets.. and it was a pain for the setup..so then i put in a macro G53 position offset..so each program offset the 0 from the center of the tombstone.. this way it allowed us unlimited offsets..and after the first pickup the program was set..just put on the fixture and run..program was made and the macro settings were on the first line of the program..
  19. yes neither is quite right.. the machine is newer..and the hiedenhein one outputs tool info and stuff like the way the older machine controls do..with tool lenths and stuff all internall..while this has a tool changer and tool settings much like fanuc machines.. forget what the other ones prob was..but simillar i think.. i've beent rying to edit one of them..but having troubles with the cycles outputs..and am constantly remaking the actual cycles on machine.. paramaters seem to get missing and stuff..i'm npot an expert with the post editing..just do the huint and peck thing..and re-edit till it seems to work aperantly the guy before me was a real jerk..lol [ 01-20-2002: Message edited by: Kerry ]
  20. i am running a Heidenhien 426 horixontal borring mill....lol just a working slob. anyways the guy who ran it before me screwed up the post for the machine..and i was wondering if some one might have a good post compatable with this thing? most of the people in the company don't know anything about their own cad system..hehe right now the canned cycles don't output properly and i'm doing alot of manual editing on the machine..and the rotary axis doesn't seem to be workjing in the post as well even if it was a post for a vertical model, i think it would probably work better than what i have to use now.. any help here would be kindly apreciated.. their using master cam 8.11 p.s. last copy i used before this was 7.2 nice improvements on 8..well done Mastercam
  21. i don't have mine handy..but there are 2 ways..the post has a line that shows what numbers the lines start with..how many places and jump by 2's.. but there is also a setting in master cam..forget where..you have to see which is active
  22. find and replace can be started in the middle..and then rest.. of truncate what you want to change to another file..mass do it..and then cut and past back together? just an idea
  23. i've had this prob or something similar to it. for me it was simply that when i exported from autocad , i found that levels not turned on will not get exported
