  1. Dialed into AOL no doubt. "Goodbye." Edit: Or perhaps you were a power user and had Compuserve.
  2. Wow! And I thought War & Peace was a long read. ;-)
  3. I haven't the faintest idea, my company hired Mastercam (#1 in the market place for 18 years) to do that. Apparently "it's not easy" is your story, & you're sticking to it. I got the impression that you thought my criticism was somehow impeding Mastercam from progressing, apparently I was wrong, sorry.
  4. I wasn't around for those debates. AFAIK the HST dialogues have always been functional, so the debates must have been about "style". That's very different than things in Verify which simply don't function correctly. My boss will pleased to hear that we bought software that has potential. ;-)
  5. Sorry, but "it's not easy" is not an appropriate response. Our customers would never accept that. Why should I, as a customer, accept that? How is valid critcism stopping anything from moving forward?
  6. Well, just for the sake of argument lets say the 1st 25 operations are T1. I'll need to devote my attention to 25 stops in order to stop at T2. Edit: Why can't it just work? Why does everything (yes, I know I'm over-generalizing) need to have a work around? Sorry, rant over.
  7. My biggest (far from only) issue is "Stop Conditions -> Tool Change" is borken if you have multiple tools of the same type. The 1st four tools in my current file are 1/2" ball cutters, T1-T4. The simulator sees them all as T4. Some jobs will have hundreds of operations, with many duplicate tools, frustrating is an understatement. ??
  8. Tyler Robertson has contacted me privately with an explanation. I'm satisfied with his explanation, I don't believe there was any intentional deception. I'd have rather seen a public acknowledgement that the threads were being trashed, but... que sera sera Hey mods, feel free to trash this thread, it's gonna do nothing other than stir up things. It's not paranoia if they're really out to get ya.
  9. The recent X7 update thread disappeared without explanation, the thread I started to inquire about it also disappeared (within minutes). Is it just me, or is censorship being actively practiced here?
  10. Nice example rocheey1, too busy here for such niceties. OP, also have a look at the example scripts in shared mcamx5/6/7 (C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx7\vb) Lot's of well documented scripts there which demonstrate many of the available functions.
  11. Yes, you're looking for SetActiveMachine() Here's a snippet from one of my scripts: For Index = 1 To Ubound(Ar) Call SetPostName(PostPath & Ar(Index) & PostExtStr) Call SetActiveMachine(MachPath & Ar(Index) & MachExtStr) Call RunPostAll(UserOutputPath, False) Next I case you're not aware, documentation of the vbscript functions available is in VBScript.htm. (in the help subdirectory, under your mastercam installation directory.) There is also SCRIPT56.CHM in the same location, which contains general documentation about the language itself.
  12. Settings > Configuration > Start / Exit > Editor > Other...
  13. File -> Options -> All Languages -> NC -> File Extensions
  14. Wut? Are saying you want to strip the extension (.MCX-*) from the file name?
  15. Well, I wasted the last 1/2 hour messing with this. I created a nested directory structure locally (on my desktop) for testing. X7 SP2 does not recurse. X6 MU3 functions correctly. This isn't an issue for me personally, I don't update part files with the utility. Just sayin' it's broke.
  16. IIRC I also migrated my libraries without issue. The issue is recursing sub-directories while migrating part files. I tried twice this afternoon without success, files in the top level directory are migrated but not in sub-directories. Please try migrating some part files in nested directories and see if you have success. Maybe I'm missing something, it certainly wouldn't be the first time.
  17. That's cute, how you think they give a sh*t about a dozen whiners on a forum that the vast majority of users probably don't even know exists. Unfortunately, like many other things, it's borken. I tried it using the source as destination, as well as specifying a different destination. Same result, no recursion. Chewes, some particular reason you need to convert all that at once? I just convert 'em individually, as the need arises.
  18. And particularly relevant to this thread is his most recent article: http://camzone.org/2...-cax/#more-1274 In my estimation the assessment of the current state of Mastercam is spot on.
  19. No, I said what I said, because your statements seemed absurd to me. You seemed to be trying really hard to make lemonade out of lemons. Nothing personal. I've had Mastercam crash in pretty much every conceivable manner, losing hours worth of work. Hell, as recently as X2 Mastercam wrote directly to your working file while saving, so when it crashed during a save you'd end up with a corrupt file. Backup files are your friend.
  20. The help is actually fairly helpful, videos even.
  21. Wow, that's awesome! You'd think they'd market this new feature more aggressively, I wasn't aware of it. "New in Mastercam X7, the ability to save your work before crashing."
  22. You don't say what version you're using, this works in X5: 1, Create a new mastercam file. 2, Open the tool manager. 3, Open each library you want & copy it's tools into the part file. 4, Once you have your tools copied, right click in the part window & select "Save tool(s) to library..." Edit: Oops, you do say X6, what I described above should work for you.
