My Question is why you would want to go from software that still excites to software that doesn't exist anymore, I’ve herd of Mastercam users that want to transfer smartcam to Mastercam but never vice versa. Why not transfer it and update to V9 just in time spent machining and programming, the software transfer and update will pay for itself may times over immediately .Plus you’re not even current with the latest version of smartcam.
Like Thomas said it sounds like a hardware problem,if a fresh install doesn't work, would be your ram or something else, don;t forget to update all the patches including SP3 for Windows 2000.
Try to deactivate the FIFO buffer on the com port the parameter are in the device manager under the com and advanced. That could be the problem, if you receive that is a good sign.If not there are other things you can try out.
If you use Detonator XP V23.11 its the best one,and latest one i found that works.

this is the hyperlink to the step by step instructions ,and you also have on this site where you can get the softquadro software i was talking about and the drivers.it should work well it seems to work for my Geforce 2 gts pro and the GF2 MX,i've tried on these ones and it seems to work good.
There is a more simple way to go through this, its called SOFTQUADRO, its a software that changes the Geforce cards into quadro,it uses software rather then changing the resistors manually.
Geforce = Quadro
Geforce2 MX = Quadro2 MXR/EX
Geforce2 PRO/GTS = Quadro2 Pro
Geforce 3 = Quadro DCC
Hi Eric
The MPfan outputs that line, it has the logic in it, what version of the post are you using and what version are you running of Mastercam, if your using V9, download the Mill9posts.exe in the patch section,(if you haven't done any modification on it)and it should work without and problem if not i need more info to help you out.
Hi Guys
At work we have a firewall, if i use internet explorer or not i can't connect even with a FTP software, use passive mode or not, at home without a firewall using a FTP software i can connect i don't have a firewall at home that’s the only difference, if you guys have the same problem it can be the cause. Unless someone else can correct me, or help me ,that’s my explanation.
Its could be that in your display setting(while you backplot) you light have arc as a red color its one of the new options in V9,check that out and us know.
HI
If you are working with surfaces and export to a IGES file you should be able to shade it,no problem,do a SCREEN/STATISTIC to give you the information thats on the screen to make sure that you have surfaces. If not zip the file and upload it to the FTP site so we can take a look at it.
Hi Quickmike
The Solid history tree, isn't yet available yet,but i beleive it is in plans to be developped for the futur,i think STEP will be the format that will support the History tree information.
Hi Leocam
First do you have Mastercam V9,if you do you know that Mastercam is getting stronger and stronger in 5axis with the new Multi surface 5axis,and if that isn't enough for you,you would maybe like to check out the CAMAIX 5 axis chook, you have a lot of powerful tools in 5 axis. In that chook you alose have options of tool and holder check, and a lot more, maybe you should ask your dealer to show you that chook,i think it will make you reconsider UG.

Hey Guys
To let you know the 2 last day,the Mastercam Booth was extremly busy,i mean we did have time to breath. The first day was mainly geared for Student and teachers, and it wasn't bad as well.
Hey TheePres
Also keep in account,NCL is a very heavy system to use. I don't know how much you know of NCL,i have a customer who has it ,and they say it is extremly complicated to use and too long to program.
