Hello all,
I am sure there is a simple explanation to this.
My question is:
why do i get the "connection refused" error whenever i try to go to the ftp site???
I work for a job shop so setups are endless.
i usually try to keep a few dedicated tools in the machine and just change my work shift Z value accordingly.
typically i use about 5 tools for each job and i can set-up,program and be operational in less than 1/2 hour.
give or take a few depending on the job difficulty of course.
but i always touch off my tools from the workpiece.
a tool presetter seems like way too much coin to spend on something that can be done in 5-10 minutes by hand.
it could just be the way that you or your setup man goes about doing it.
i have a guy that takes 2 hours to gather and touch off tools for the simplest of jobs. (a single keyway or bolt circle)
that is going to end shortly believe me.
lol
it's nice being the boss sometimes
I totally agree with keeping the spindles turning as much as possible.
I have been programming cnc lathes for almost 15 years, and cnc mills for about 6.
And i also agree on the fact that people need to learn manually before jumping to the cad/cad part of it.
they should require at least 2-3 years of hands-on before anyone can become an engineeer!
Thanks all for the input!
Our company is thinking about buying MC Lathe.
does anyone know any pros and cons versus the controls that already have conversation like the Okuma and Yasnac controls?
how versatile is mc lathe?
any input would be appreciated.
hi kccadcam,
i usually call fanuc usa for my fanuc control.
248-377-7592 for a local michigan office.
as far as yasnac goes,
i deal with yaskawa/yasnac in the chicago/rockford illinois area.
847-887-7000
they are a little hard to understand, because of the language barrier, but they do a good job of solving your problem.
so what you're saying is,
my customer can convert a ug file to parasolid, send it to me and i can open it using the parasolid converter?
if that's the case then i'm set.
loss of color and layers aren't a problem.
i just need to be able to read the file and work off of it.
Our company is thinking about spending the $2300.00 for the UG converter.
does anyone know if this is worth it?
is there any loss of info in the translation?
i upgraded from win 98 to xp.
in win98 i was having massive crash problems ever since i purchased mastercam a couple years ago.
my dealer said that winxp would be alot more stable.
and that's true...no more shut-down, but now just seems like very slow ram access.
Hello,
Recently i just switched over to Win XP and since then i have been having problems with mastercam operating verrrry slow whenever i do a file/get or a file/save.
i have played around with the ram allocations setting them high and then low.
i now have them around 57.8mb having them currently at 8000,8000,500,16000,32000.
has anyone experienced this problem and can anyone give me any help as to what is causing this.
i always run the ram-saver function so i don't think it's a file size problem.
it does this on any size file toolpath or no toolpath.
is it because the directory that i am saving/getting the file from has alot of files in it???
my pc specs are:
256ram
32mb video gforce2
1.5 processor
i have v9 level 2 am very green using surfaces.
is it not possible to use cutter comp during surface machining?
i'm using finish flowline to machine teeth in the od of a gear.
the setup is on a indexing head mounted horizontally.
kenneth,
it's possible that we could have met b4,
but i doubt it since oakland county is one of the largest in the country.
i live in oxford how about you?
i just got v9 wuhoo!
and i already ran updatepst9 for all my posts, but
does anyone know how to update the tool libraries from v8 to v9?
and also the v8 nc,nci and mc8 files.?
