Matt and Doug are not coming but Michelle is there this year and Doug asked us to take care of her... so on that note I will be there Tues. and Weds. with Chris, Rob and Glenn, we shall see you there! So Scott what was the count for lunch?

  7. Ok.. Thats enough of this! Hello everyone its me.. Stefan at CAD/CAM.. Hello to my good friends. Jay Kramer (Precision Programing) James Meyette (4 Flight) Greg (Shop Floor) In Which Are My Customers besides being good partners and friends. So since Kristina told you her story .. please let me tell you Mine...This issue goes back to December 2001 here is a quick run down. 12/12/01 Chris went there to see if he can help them with the communications problem. Per her e-mail of 12/11/01: We are still having communication problems with the new MasterCam. What is the return policy on the upgrades? If we can't get this to work for us, we'll have to look for another way. 01/02/2002: The communication problem seems to be solved since they installed MC on a new computer, all was well till... 02/03/03: We have installed Mastercam Mill and Lathe vs. 9 on a different computer than we had vs. 8 installed on. The "new" computer is a Dell 500celeron with 128 mb of ram. The install went without a hitch, as did the HASP upgrade. However, we are having a problem getting it to communicate to the machines. It will talk to the Mori Seki, but not to the Fadal. I'm not quite sure what else to try at this point. Is there anyone there who can help or should we contact CNC directly? Not sure what other information to give you... This is when I tried to help her since I am the Mastercam Rep for her now.. Now we all know Chris K. and his Knowledge of Mastercam and that he is a true expert on Mastercam... I have sent Chris there Time after Time at no cost to help her. When Chris told her what she needed to do she did only one thing Upgrade the windows to 2000. This is not what Chris suggested. and as far as this goes... quote: I'm also communicating with our reseller who has been little to no help on this issue, but loves to bill us for time. Anybody know any GOOD resellers in Southern California? You have not paid for anything.. I am your dealer and have not charged you anything so I dont understand that, you have been getting free support and now you complain about that.. I can start billing now if you would like but I am trying to help you but instead of calling me about this issue you do this instead..??? We are one of the Top Mastercam Dealers in the world, and I am willing to be helpful to you 24 hrs but not like this. I am available to my customers 24hrs and on weekends, but you need to call me about this. I have discussed this issue with our President Tom Shelar and CNC software. and we will be seeing you Monday Morning.. unfortunately after this isssue is resolved we will have to start billing for On-Site services. Those of you(Most of you) that know Chris and I know how much we love Mastercam and our customers and take a great pride in what we do. I'm sorry if anyone got a bad impression of our ability or service by this remark from a customer who would not even call me to resolve this issue before stating such remarks on the Forum. but if Kristina wants to call Greg at shop floor to help ok you can... but he will just call me, It seems easier to let me know about the issue instead. Thank you for reading.. Stefan Brigati Corporate Sales Division CAD/CAM Consulting Services To: James / Jay / Greg L8R

  13. Howdy Everyone! and a special wuz zup to James M, Jay K and Scott of course. Since we are on this subject I want to mention a manufacturing and planning control software called TK Suite, is easy to implement on the floor, more cost effective than software from other vendors, and offers only those features that customers need. It has been designed by people who grew up on the shop floor and have worked as CNC operators and programmers. It was designed for the small to mid-sized discrete manufacturer. It incorporates the functionality necessary to run your business without over-burdening you with unnecessary system maintenance. It is comprised of 9 modules: tk-BOM - allows definition of parts and bills of material. tk-Trak - Definition of work centers, routings, and nested parts tk-SOP - Sales Order Processing tk-POP - Purchase Order Processing tk-IconMan - Inventory Control Manager (including work orders) tk-Plan - Master Planning, Material and Capacity Requirements Planning tk-Schedule - Machine Scheduling tk-Log - Shop floor reporting of labor, units produced, and materials used tk-LogMan - Log Manager - supervisor override of log entries Manufacturers with sales less than $ 5 million will want the version of tk-Suite that integrates with Microsoft's Small Business Manager. Existing manufacturers using Quick Books and Peachtree can easily exchange their existing data with Small Business Manager. Manufacturers with sales between $ 5 million and $25 million will want the version of tk-Suite that integrates with Microsoft Great Plains' Dynamic accounting software. It is designed to provide a smooth flow of information throughout the entire manufacturing operation. It is laid out in a manner consistent with the way manufacturers managers operate. are you getting my point.... I don't want this to sound like a sales pitch but hey! I sell Mastercam so I guess I am salesman! anyway call me Scott and I will hook you up with info and demo if need be.... Cheers! Stefan Brigati CAD/CAM CONSULTING SERVICES INC. 15. The RAST2VEC C-Hook for Mastercam reads all bitmap formats (bmp, gif, tif etc.) and converts them to smooth lines and arcs within Mastercam. the package is an automatic detection of sharp corners and a smart smoothing method. This can both create centerlines AND outlines from a bitmap image. If the bitmap is not black and white, RAST2VEC will automatically convert colors into black and white images. Also With the Raster Vector Converter pixel pictures become vectorized, which were digitized with a commercial scanner or loaded into PCX, TIF, GIF, BMP, JPG format. But there are limits that are set to operating with the scanner. The templates should be clean and black/white, i.e. all edge outlines should be clearly recognizable. Xeroxed copies worsen the quality (Photocopying machines let the edge outlines blur). Good results can be achieved with templates with approximately 3 to 5-fold enlargment.
  16. Scott! - you know thats a dangerous territory.. NC data does not contain adequate information to produce an NCI file compatible with Mastercam Version 9 using the existing reverse post processor executable(RP.DLL). The operation type, tool information, and NC parameter information, required in the latest NCI format, are not recoverable from NC files. NC data is rounded and the precision required to produce a usable NCI file is often lost. This is a problem especially with data generated from surfaces or freehand. Reverse-posting these files produces code that often cause alarms on the machine tool, or worse, a machine crash. Operations that produce multiple cuts (for example, multisurface toolpaths, pocket long drill cycles, lathe canned cycles) cannot be recovered. These toolpaths typically contain linear and arc motion that is indistinguishable from contour toolpaths. Importing into the Operations Manager an NCI file that was generated using a reverse post processor or Mastercam versions earlier than Version 7 will not contain adequate tool information. It is not possible to redefine a tool. But Anyway.... 1. Choose Main Menu, NC utils, Post proc, Change. 2. Select a reverse post processor and choose Open. 3. Choose Reverse. The Specify File Name to Read dialog box opens. 4. Select an NC file to reverse-process and choose OK. The Specify File Name to Write dialog box opens. 5. Select or enter an NCI file name to write and choose OK. Talk to ya Later! ~Stef
