Ok guys, now its between the Nakamura and a mori seiki nz2000 t3y3. The only problem i can see with the nakamura is the length of tools, with turrets so close together. Also camplete is extra for the nty3. Now I'm not familiar with either one, but I haven't heard anything bad either.
Guys, the owner here is wanting to buy a new 3 turret lathe. He is looking at a nakamura super nty3 or a index c65. I know that the nakamura has Y on all 3 turrets, and the index only has it on 2 of the 3 turrets. The cycle time is the same on either machine (or so they say). The place I used to work at had a few index g200's, and the old style c65 and they were both nice machines (well built and would repeat all day). However I don't know much about the nakumura. So i guess I was trying top get some opinions if anyone else had either of these machines, or an opinion on any others that maybe out there to look at.
Thanks,
Jeff
Does anyone have much experience with polygon turning? I'm wanting to know how good a surface finish I could get with 1020 tube steel on a 1 inch hex. They call out a 25 finish. Would that even be possible polygon turning?
Hardmill, that is exactly what I was looking for, but it is not in level 1. I just ended up doing a 2d contour path with depth cuts, angled walls, for the 22.5 degree wall, and used the toolpath for geometry and offset that half the cutter diameter. Thanks
I was wondering if someone could look at a file for me? I only have mill level 1, and need to cut the 2 radius cut outs on the face of the part, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it. Maybe I need mill level 2 or 3? I haven't done any surfaceing in mastercam only gibbs (yeah I know).
Just read a article in ip news about mastercam swiss expert 2011 will be demoed at pmts? Was wondering if anybody has heard anything about it. Haven't seen any mention of it.
Kmartin, I think that it is a point way off to the left side of the part. I just turned on level 30 zoomed out deleted that point then it I didn't have any problem.
I've tried both methods with any combination I can use. And I cannot seem to get what I am after in backplot. (self taught noob). So I was wondering if someone could look at it and put a tool path on it, so I could see how to do it?
I have never done any simultaneuos 4th axis work with mastercam. And maybe it's not possible, but what I'm trying to do is machine a radius, a flat, and another radius with a flat endmill by starting on 90 degrees and ending on 270 degrees in one motion on a horizontal machine. Here are some pics if that will make it any clearer.
Using x2 mr2 sp1.
Thanks,
Jeff
how do you mill a square or hex and enter on top side y+ side and exit on x- side? It always wants to start and end the cut on the same line. its got to something i'm doing wrong. seems like it should be easy.
