Took 45min to regen the rest of the paths
restart sis not solve this, but I changed my roughing cuts in xy and z by .001" for chits and
giggles and it reprocessed now problem
well, now we know the fix.... LOL
-
large file, size, cavity has 4212 surfs
(heatsink mold cavity , engineering Change.)
the area clearance path gives me this error.
the waterlines and rest paths compute
is this a save/close/restart/regen type of fix, error?
Or is this something that needs a delete tool path and
make a new one?
Thanks in advance
Rick

I agree what what you say Reko. I am using 9. It is much better than previous versions. However, many of these bugs go back several, if not many, versions and MC really needs to spend some time fixing what they know is broken before piling more "stuff" on top of it. The circle milling and wireframe paths are just awful and are of bobcad quality. I could, and have, written better toolpaths using Microsoft Excel.
Its all a ploy for the release of X10. It will be perfect.

You can edit the title if you click the full edit option

Linking a product to a date can be bad in my opinion - things can be rushed out just to meet the date...
I wont matter in this case....

You may have to play with the tolerance smoothing settings

I run multiple sessions of Mastercam all the time and copy geometry between them on a daily baisis
In MCfSW you can copy toolpaths between session .. it would be nice if you could do that in
regular MC.. but I'm thinking that day will come.
just remember to save often
I notice that if you have two instances open of X7 on each monitor.
DO NOT close one and click on the other until it fully closes...or they both close and
no option to save on the 2nd one.
-
I don't think the current generation of Mastercam will ever be capable of opening multiple part files in the same session a la SolidWorks or SpaceClaim.
This will have to wait for the next generation of Mastercam which I'm guessing is 2 possibly 3 releases away X 2017 or 2018. (and this is ONLY a guess)
typical on all levels of MC

I've never been a huge fan of the Xeon Processors. I much prefer the i series. I have an i7 on my home and work computer and they both perform flawless.
Besides that it looks okay. Don't worry about SSD, your SSHD will boot windows fast.
32Gb Ram might be Overkill. 16Gb at home and I've never according to my montior used more than 65% of it, even when running multiple stressing apps.
Ram is cheap, get 64 gig if you can.

Use Xform translate 3D, select all, from front to top. Then Xform move to origin, and select your point.
thats is old school, Eric is spot on.

So how long do you have mastercam running before it will not project for you?
Jay, all restart fix issues, usually randomly start occurring in the 45 minute to 1 hr range, all the way back to X2.
The project, wcs/views, some transform things, chain selection window disappearing....etc.(many more)
all star occurring, once the any one of them stops working.
-
I sure hope so. I was kinda hoping someone knew something I didn't at this point. Thanks for the response.
restarting fixes half of the thought to be bugs.
...' when you have MC open too long, things stop working'.....
just restarted because wcs and views stopped updating.
Honestly Tim, I have my phone set to a one hour timer all day everyday to restart MC.
It really helps for the random lock ups too.
Collin, that does not help.
-
Unfortunately (I think) it is an ongoing 'cache' problem and hopefully X9 was design to use and clear it
correctly.
-
That worked!
Thanks Jay

Found a small work around for now, we can open cimco and drag an NC file into it, edit and save.
It just wont open with for some reason??
BTW
Before i formatted the drive, he had X6 installed so I just set the 'open with' and
pointed to the X6 cimco edit 5 to remedy this.
-
Had to format C: and reinstall my programmers P.C.
Only X7 installed. when you post a program it opens cimco edit 6.
When you right click a file to open with cimco edit 6 it say 'mastercam hasp not found'.
Thanks in advance

lol, newb's
I hope they didn't wait 11 years for an answer
I got that beat, been married 18 yrs to current wife.
I still never actually hear 'yes' to what she eventually gives in to every other day....

Good call, Ron, but that's not it.
In X6 I would see the window flash and disappear. Not seeing it flash is what caught my attention. I disabled AFF when I did my test this morning.
As Rick said, It could be a video driver issue. I was going to update my driver back when I was having cursor issues a few weeks back. The cursor issue mysteriously disappeared and some hot jobs came along so the priority level of updating went down.
Still getting the disappearing window flash(in X7, sometimes enter brings it up other wise executing
the (creat flat surface for example) again brings the widow back??? But re executing using the
MRU function does not work. head scratcher for sure??(only puill down menu or
right click menu.
I keep thinking it is a window update thing from about 3 weeks ago
once I update my driver again last week it was fine till yesterday, after a 26 'windows update' performed....
-
Thanks Rickstrap, mine was toggled off.
I'm learned.
-
pop up show here
Thad, silly attempt but minimize MC see if its is hidden??
after a windows update last week I had a weird problem where various chaining windows
etc, would either instantly disappear or not show up.
Updated video driver and it fixed it

Go to 'View' pull down menu at top, View/toggle - solids Mangler

Mastercam used to have macros. I think they went away when version X came out.
I've only every used them in Powermill, very handy stuff

Rick, been using X8 only for some time. I have not gone to full X9 since most of our customers are still in older versions. We have been dragging most to X8 kicking and screaming. Funny everyone that got over the difference have liked X8. Are they 100% happy with X8? Nope, but they were also not 100% happy before X8 either so take it with a grain of salt. Purely from a GI it is one of the nicest looking versions I have seen since I started using back in V7. I use <AppLook>"3"</AppLook> and have been very happy with that.
As many may or may not like change it had to happen. It did and once all the dust settles hopefully everyone will be back to helping move it in a good direction.
Ron, I will send you pm reply later. (the look, doesnt bother me at all, i have it set up nicely)
for no particular reason, cept I respect you enuf to keep any further comments from certain trolls

If they do have a stable release with X9 that will be two in a row. I have to say X8 is far better than any other release to date. That might be something else to convince the powers that be.
Working on it, with them.
