  1. Thanks gcode. Yea, IT has me locked out of it because it's a config file. This could take weeks.
  2. I have a new corporate comp and I can't edit my defaults. How do I tell if I have read/write permission? Anyone else have this issue? I searched the forum to no avail. Thanks, Ken
  3. Phil, I can't get into the site you linked.
  4. Actually John, I did select the center of an arc letting Autocursor find it and the major dia. info is NOT greyed out. However, if I use the hotkey C and then select an arc the major dia info IS greyed out. I think this is what caused my confusion initially. Well that and it was Monday.
  5. Yeah, I guess that's the way to go. Thanks.
  6. Okay it's been a while since I toolpathed a thread but when I select it, it asks for a point, so I choose the center of the hole and then go through filling out the options. I tell it my # of active teeth, pitch etc. I tell it my major dia. (1.125-12 I.D. thread) but it will cut to the dia of the arc that I selected and ignore the dia that I type in. WTF?? So I had to create a 1.125" dia arc and select the center of it to get the right code. Is this a bug or am I missing something?? Anybody else have this problem? I hope this makes sense.
  7. It was worth more than a dime to me!
  8. I have my autosave set to prompt me before saving so I can choose whether or not to save. Helps to eliminate the issue gcode brought up.
  9. A bull endmill should work fine
  10. If no rad is allowed or it's too small to be feasible, you could stand it up against an angle plate and 3D contour it.
  11. If no rad is allowed or it's too small to be feasible, you could stand it up against an angle plate and contour it.
  12. I'd use flowline. Are you allowed a radius in the corner?
  13. Just received: HP xw4600 Workstation Intel Core2 Duo E685 @ 3 GHz 4 Gigs RAM NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 w/ 512 mb RAm XP SR2 5:56 Old Comp: 12:05
  14. I had one and had the same issue. It won't do dynamic roll or zoom. At least I couldn't get mine to. I suffered with it for over a year and finally got a wheel mouse yesterday. Sorry I can't help. Wheel mouse is the way to go for me.
  15. Ron is right. It's 4x for threads. Linky
  16. I believe you are right. .0025" per side or .005 total.
  17. As far as regrinding these, you can't. The key to the speeds, feeds and tool life is the coatings. If you try to re-grind without recoating, the end mill is just a carbide e.m. and won't last 1 cut at the same S&F.
  18. I just read this thread for the first time and I saw no mention of YG V-7 endmills. That's what we use with pretty good results. I don't know how they stack up against the others mentioned but I had good luck with 'em. 300-400 SFM .003 FPT. Very good tool life. JM2C
  19. Yeah, I just learned something too!! Thanks Colin!
  20. Yes it's on it's way. Thanks John.
  21. It backplots fine in M/C. but shows reverse arcs in prototrak backplot, but only on the finish tool. Yes it's still posting X- even though it's set for D+ Z-. The axis combo is "Left/Lower" for both tools. WTF??
  22. savagkd, I tried that but it still posted with X-. Did I forget to update or save something??
