  1. it is your video card driver. look at the FAQS on NVidia;s website on how to roll back to the previous driver. i had the same problem i run X4 with the new drivers and have to roll back to run V9
  2. our standard is major tap dia +.015 regardless of spot drill angle i.e 120° or 90° [ 05-07-2010, 11:09 AM: Message edited by: G10X0Y0Z0 ]
  3. emailed QC and got this back Just be careful and only delete the registry string listed below. • Close Mastercam • Start, Run and type Regedit • Browse to “HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCNC Software, Inc.Mastercam X4” • Right click on the Mastercam X4 entry and select “delete” • Close the registry • Re-start Mastercam which will rebuild that entry
  4. this only started happening after i updated XP yesterday
  5. why does my X4 MU3 takes 3 minutes to open every time i try to load the software
  6. parameter 3123 set to 0 will turn it off
  7. jim the point is why do we need another button to push. i can go back to V9 and create my program faster than i can in X4 MU3 less buttons to push and less chances for error. i have to agree that the new tree style interface in X4 sucks, all it does is slow down my production. i sometimes write my programs in V9 and bring it into X just for the tool path enhancements and it it still faster than working completely in X
  8. that apply button is the dumbest enhancement in mastercam. why do you have have to click 2 buttons for your values to stay. was not there before X4. bites me in the a$$ every time.
  9. no lying to mastercam here ( if you have to lie to the software then you might not be using the software properly )when mastercam asks for the geometry, push the space bar and type your Z & D cut off position. eg if my part is 1.00 dia X 2.00 long i D1.05Z-2.025 and set my cut off parameters. mastercam automatically creates th cut off point for you. the point can be moved at this time in either the Z or D.
  10. so far MU2 lathe is working ok for me
  11. in the lathe i use the +D+Z WCS and C & T planes based upon what plane the live tools are cutting. Eg. WCS +D+Z C/T Right to mill on the face of the stock. when i first started programming the lathe a year ago i had a hard time understanding how to use the C&T planes for the live tooling in the mill after rotating the view i create new wcs's from the graphic view menu. WCS & C/T planes are the same in the mill. all the rotation and work offsets etc. are hardwired in the posts for each MD. every time the post sees a different WCS it generates the rotation and/or offset based on the MD.
  12. what about saving your different operations as STL's to work between machines. i did that to a couple parts, but they are all in the same file. wcs on the lathe just shifts in the Z axis but on the mill i rotate the graphic view and save them as new WCS's for the mill. nothing moves, justs the graphic views.Am I making any sense?
  13. does any one have any problems with their stock not flipping around when verifying on the lathe. the stock will not flip in the verify for me but will do it in the back plot. some one from CNC can chime in any time. sent the file to my reseller and he is seeing the same thing that i am seeing.
  14. rotary axis control set to C or Y or no rotation? i normally set it to C
  15. I migrated from V9 to X4 2 weeks ago. whenever i click on a directory that contains Mc9 files a window pops up with the message configuring X4. what is causing this and how do i stop it and will this create a problem for my Mc9 files?
  16. It's much easier to transform the geometry in lathe than to mess with planes, in my opinion. i have to agree lathe does not handle C/T planes very well.
  17. stay away from the HURCO, Haas is a better machine for the money
  18. had the same problem but with the verify on the sub spindle. uninstalled MU1 and no problems after that. informed reseller. was sent to CNC Software
  19. how do you get the solid layout to work like it did in 9 thru X2. if you want to create a layout in any view other than the MCX3 defined views it does not show up properly in the top view for printing my set up sheet, are there any tutorials out there?
  20. i have the same problem as KATECH i tried to save my stl from my lathe op so i can run in my mill and MC crashed on the creation. the stl was created though. i am starting from raw stock
  21. thanks Eric that did the trick. it was greyed out in X2. maybe that's why i missed it.
  22. You can also set the default toolbars with the machine def. Change it in there also. The old file is set to the default toolbar. not to sound like an idiot or a dummy, but i looked in the MD and could not find where to change the default tolbar. would it be possible to get some step by step instructions, because it is driving me nuts
  23. You closed it and saved it under another name. But you didn't make that new "named" toolbar the default, so it continues to load the standard toolbar each time you start. Just close it and save it under the default name. i hear you mike, tried that, didn't work i have the same problem doug is having. i made the new tool bar name as my default in the start up. MCX# starts up fin, my Op manager is on the second monitor, no what's new tool bar. as soon as i open a file the what's new tool bar pops up and the op manager moves to the main monitor. also if i go into my stock set up manager and close it every thing moves to the main monitor any ideas?

    HELP

does lathe have a level 3?
  25. i understand that but how do i define the bar to use the same centerline offset as the drill and not the tip of the insert - offsets qty are very limited - don't want to confuse the operator to set two different offsets for the same tool
