I wouldn't advise overriding the switches. What is the clamping system on the lathe? Collets? If so I just set the switches on either side of the disc that you see in the actuator, and then they are fine. Do you have a lot of stock variation? For starting the barfeed I have just put a drop in so it reads the EOB signal and then it will automatically load the next.
If you have both lathe AND mill experience it makes going to any mill/turn easier but it isnt the end of the world if you haven't run both. You then have the added opportunity to learn about lathe work
Wrote a program on it earlier today. I use it for all my Okuma lathe programming. It outputs all the canned turning cycles so edits at the control are a breeze. What machine are you wanting to program with it?
If the barfeed is getting stuck and you do not have bent stock, check and confirm the barfeed is set for the right diameter. If all that is correct then seems like there may be an issue with the barfeed alignment.
We have been doing more and more of it! Once we got the first few applications built it got easier to do. Debugging the apps seems like it takes the longest.
The "Feed Axis Data" page will show you all of that. Also one of the things with the Okuma open API on the THINC controls is you can make your own custom interfaces. I built this one the other day for a HMC that had all the desired data collected on that page
Here shows how our posts are setup, Gregs actually show ya something useful (like how to setup your post )
How Hi-Cut work is it keeps the feed-rate as high is it can based on the geometry and while keeping within the tolerance setting.
We have our post set to use "misc integers" for the high cut settings and don't need to hand edit them. Once I get on a computer I can type up how it all works for ya
Yep, contact your local Okuma dealer and have them send an AE out. We usually would do a full week for someone completely new to that machine but break it up into 2 days one week, 2 the next, and maybe a day a few weeks down the road. That seems to help with being able to retain it.
Yup, it can be done. I have not use the X7 Mill/Turn as of yet but was able to do it before just fine. There are other software's that make a few things easier but it's not bad at all.
Where are you located? I would request that from your dealer. It is not necessarily something that will be the same on the discs from another machine unless the options are the same on each
