  1. What do you all use to manage the tool library for the shop? With a system where there is only one Tool #45 in the shop and it gets used on multiple machines how do you track it? Or do you have unique tool numbers for all tools but Tool #45 is resident in HMC #3 and HMC #1 has a similar tool with a different number? We are looking at creating some standard tools for in the magazines but right now we are leaning towards Tool #1 would be the same in all HMC's as then we do not have to update NC code or CAM files for a different tool number depending on the machine.
  2. Tool page only AFAIK. The "Large Tool" setting I would be surprised to see it able to be done by M-Code as it affects other tool pots. The heavy tool would be a handy M-Code though. I use it for a lot of delicate tools
  3. Setting the tool up in the tool page as a heavy and large tool will do it. Easiest way to do it is by "inserting" in to the magazine with adjacent empty pots. It will then set the adjacent pots as "Dummy".
  4. I would take a look at using the raster toolpath for that. Might need to extend the surface a little on each end.
  5. It does. There are guys who create crazy designs in Damascus steel. I want to build a power hammer soon and try my hand at making some.
  6. The hard center layer holds a great edge but if it was not surrounded by the softer outer layers the blade would be very brittle.
  7. "Damascus Steel" is used extensively for knifemaking and things of that nature. Never have seen it called out on a print as it could be any combination of metals. Normally the purpose for it on knives is for decorative advantages rather than any egde-holding advantage unless it is a "San Mia" (Soft outer layers with a very high RC core) What is the part for?
  8. We have Hurco and Kitamura VMC's. This week an Okuma M560 is getting installed with a Koma 5 axis table. There will be a few more M560's replacing dying Hurcos I'm thinking. The Kitamura VMC's hold tolerance well but they are seeming to have more issues requiring repair lately. They are older machines as well.
  9. That is how many times you want the .min to loop before it rus the next .min
  10. You could just use a dummy program with the schedule that sets the offset and then calls the main again. PSELECT B00.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT PART123.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT B90.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT PART123.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT B180.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT PART123.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT B270.MIN,,,Q1 PSELECT PART123.MIN,,,Q1 END In the B*.MIN programs you would have this: VZOFX[*]=0 VZOFY[*]=15 VZOFZ[*]=8 VZOFB[*]=0 M30 Then just have the correct values for each index in the respective programs.
  11. I have both Starrett and Interapid and prefer the Interapid. Needle doesn't bounce so much compared to the Starrett
  12. I think if you like Fanuc you will like the Mits. I definitely prefer the OSP control
  13. The LB4000 is not available in an MYW configuration IIRC. Only the LB2000 aND the LB3000 can be had with the sub I think. I had good success with the LB's I ran in the past. I never ran the Hardinge.
  14. Mill fixture and second op? How about a file for a short run? Ti files easily IIRC
  15. Trying to remember here but did you try moving the Z out on the line before and increasing the K value? G00G95 Z1.6127M175 G183 X-1.148 Z-.31 C90. K1.1 D.03 L.03 DA.5 M08 F.0007
  16. There are various applications for OSP controls that can do that. Sends an alert if cycle complete or an alarm state is reached. Can send a trigger to the machine via email and it answers back with program progress ot a screenshot.
  17. Unless I am missing something, you want to use a surfacing toolpath
  18. Just do a CALL OENG (Or whatever your sub name is) and you can still do whatever your pass through variables would be using G11*
  19. Yes. Every day they are used for that kind of thing. That is what they are there for.
  20. Yeah, I would do a .SSB or a .LIB for that in the MD1 directory. The .MSB is not the right spot for that.
  21. Okuma probing macros are stored in them.
  22. Do a dummy program then that is Z-OP1.MIN/Z-OP2.MIN and have your VZOFZ in those
