  1. In V8.1 is it posible to import tool paths or maybe NCI to a family of parts?
  2. Robb-Jack has worked for me also. If you have any heavy roughing to do, I recommend International Mini-Cuts (they also work great on titanium).
  3. Camtech. As a former UG user, I understand ur fustration exactly. UG has if i remember correctly an approach and the lead-in. Now in MCam I just extend my geometry drivelines to accomplish same. Newer MCam has "Cut Direction" but have yet to learn to use.
  4. Jay, I tried some of those settings as you suggest, but any exit direction move only takes place after retract to clearance plane. Try and let me know if you are successful.
  5. Thank YOU Sir, Great Tip to recreate a new ruled surface. At end of cut during retract of closed angle tool will gouge, I always add manual edits to retract in X or y. Anyway to change settings to achieve same result?. Please call me Dan in future.
  6. I placed DanWall in FTP (MC8 directory).Would someone please explain how to approach this. Wall starts of open at long end,but closes at curve, also it is trim of larger surface as u can see in level (1) wich does not have UV's parallel to axis. Im trying a bellmouth cutter to get under closed areas, and using Flowline, but this method is not what i expect, as tool wants to follow UV's. Anyway to do Surf-Fin-Contour. In older versions i would get error of undercuts but i would ignore and would work fine. Now if I try Contour, toolpath will not go into closed areas. Please Help.
  7. When You do a backplot, set Geometry to save and then you can edit geo and rechain as 3d contour with center off. Hope this helps.
  8. Ralee is another member of Triumph Group, same as Hydro-Mill located in City of Industry. But, JAY, leave some for me.
  9. Thanks Jay, for your input. As I understand, you are dealer for MasterCam?, If so I will be contacting you for further information and pricing. On "prohibitive", I was referring to purchase of NCL and the required Hardware for that system. Can I get some reassurances from any of you that MCam is as capable as NCL?. Jay, noticed your in Valencia, are you familiar with HydroMill, ADI, or Ralee??
  10. I got an old HP plotter to work , dont recall model but wasn't Calcomp. I ordered some software called WinPlot and that fixed me up. You should be able to find this software with your Internet search Engine.
  11. You guys with this thread have persuaded me to concentrate on contract progamming. I quit my job 3 weeks ago and I feel like this would be excellent fit for me. So I have a few questions, what would be price range of full MasterCam license, more info on how you base or calculate your time beforehand. Also a few of my potential customers use a DNC-like system for their 5-axis machines named NIT or NTI ??, wich requires APT based programming language (no posting), anyone know if MasterCam is capable of this?. I currently use NCL for this, but cost would be prohibitive. [email protected]
  12. In my opinion, people that expect free 5-axis post with their Mastercam license are same as people who buy expensive sports car and expect souped up engine and Z rated tires to be included in price.
  13. Sorry, i wasn't specific enough. I am looking for models of Racing Cars.
  14. I recall in earlier version of MasterCam, we would get demo of a racing car made with loft data. I would appreciate if someone would locate for me. Also, any links on where I could find more models, either in native MC or IGES or so. Thank You. P.S...What is URL for FTP site ??
  15. I apologize, there was error in file, look for 7154_MODEL2.MC8
  16. What exactly are those icnons, I cant make them out?? Are they like for Drilling and Reaming operations??
  17. Has anyone came upon situation like this one: I have a part with a profile on a curved surface, we want to mill contour part in straight condition and the form part to curve wich is a spline, not true arc. How would I straighten geometry?. I up-loaded part to FTP site, under MC8 directory..7154_model.mc8. Also, would someone show me how to make a link to this. Thank You P.S., I tried it below 7154model
  18. Thanks for site info. I uploaded my file to MC8 directory: 3Plane.MC8 I recieved this as an IGES file along with coupios? data to create loft surface. I need to find intersection of datums A,B,C as starting point. Any ideas on how to find ??
  19. For Bulldozer type work, nothing beats the International Mini-Cut ruffers.
  20. What is URL for forum FTP site ? I would like to upload an example for your opinions. It involves 3 planes, would like to find point of intersection. Thank YOU
  21. You think maybe lack of African-Americans in tis field might have anything to do with opportunities afforded them. Be honest who would you hire first????
  22. I was new to CNC back when prgramming was done on teletype machines. Was drilling 1.25 diam hole thru cast iron parts. Programmer inserted Z-60.00 instead of Z-.600, funny thing is I watched that drill go right thru table without realizing anything was wrong, it cut beutifully. Next morning we discovered that our night crew used metal stamps to engrave "OIL HERE DAILY" around that hole. ------------------
  23. Im trying to cut 40" long vertical wall about 3" high, one end is tilted 2deg, opposite end is at 5deg both ends are open angles. What function should I use? It has been suggested to use Steep Multi-surf. But I cant get to work. Any Ideas??
  24. Your comment on Linux, got me wishing...Just spent $20,000 on IBM with AIX for my Catia. MasterCam on Unix???
