  1. Thanks Watcher that answers it for Jim. How about for a i530 control? Anybody? If no one knows I'll try and find out and post the answer in a few days.
  2. Jim, Did you ever find anything out about this? I was using my lathe today and it dawned on me when programmed using M0 the door unlocks when spindle and all movement stops (like it should). So I'm pretty sure it's got to be a simple parameter change. The lathe control is also a Heidenhain. Let us know what you find out, I also would like to have my mill operate the same.
  3. Jim, I did not mean to sound curt. Peter is a service tech been with DMG for years. He is the software guy and has helped me in the past. A friendly call might get you your answer without the usual run around. If you email me I will foward you his cell #. I'm also interested in the answer. Had this same problem awhile back, but I only had to run around 20 pcs. and I jurked on that door handle each time before hitting the open door button.
  4. You might try contacting Peter Mueller at DMG. I have his office # as (704) 583-1193.
  5. A.B.Tools has what your looking for and resonable at that, here's the link http://www.abtoolsinc.com/ Look under Carbde Tipped Keyseat Cutters. They don't list a .5 shank as a standard but I'm sure they can make one up for you for a min. charge.
  6. In another thread someone recommended this site http://www.eapprentice.net/ They have some good lessons that cover working with the tool and material libraries.
  7. I just purchased a new computer to install X2 and am considering not connecting it to the web. I have two computers here both connected to the web now. Are there any downsides to this other than having to transfer the occasional file from the other computers? Do many of you have a similar setup?
  8. Jim, Yes it would be nice to occasionally be able to open the door. I've just gotten use to running graphics a couple of times as a double check and slowly turning up the feed knob. The one thing I don't care for is the fact that it is hard to clean the door window. When opening the door it telescopes into the sheet metal so even if you reach in as much as possible with the door almost closed you still can't reach the last 4 or 5 inches.
  9. I own a CTX 410, had it for little over a year now. I love this machine. I opted for the Heidenhain control. This control is very powerful but not very common in the US. I do not have a sub spindle but I know the control supports part transfers, from the users manual of which you can download from here http://filebase.heidenhain.de/doku/cncpilo...l/de/index.html
  10. Not sure if they can go that large but you can try; www.stevenseng.com or www.bluco.com
  11. No problem, OSG form tap at 700 rpm Blaser coolant. Need to watch your drill size.
  12. Might try Eppinger. Distributed thru Exsys Tool Co. 1-800-397-9748 or http://exsys-tool.com
  13. M17 turns it on M16 turns it off You should also have a softkey option after hitting the machine options softkey.
  14. If your planning on any fixturing you might want to look at a subplate from Stevens Engineering www.stevenseng.com
  15. I don't own and have never operated a machine with the Acramatic 2100 control. But I'm curious what people who hate it don't like about it and people who love it, why?
  16. Mills 1 DMG 80T 1 DMG 50T Lathe 1 DMG CTX410
  17. I ran Blaser 2000 from 1985 to 2001 and never had a problem with paint. We only switched to Hangsterfers 500 because we moved and have a local distributer. Both products seem to be very simular and still no paint problems. We don't machine much in the way of tough materials or much stainless but both coolents work very well on alum, copper, and steel.
  18. Hard to beat Garr Tool for price. And they do a damn nice job. www.garrtool.com
  19. That link to Leitech Thread gages caught my eye. Found them in the MSC catalog, WoW those things aren't cheap, 320.00 to 446.00 each depending on size. Pretty neat though.
  20. I'd like to chime in and give a big high five to Brett Thomas. Every issue I had with my post he responded with "no problem, should take a few minutes". I owe him my next child.
  21. Am I missing somthing here. Was the problem solved?
  22. I have a quick reference card that list keyboard shortcuts and C-Hooks. Mine is printed with version 8.1 on it. Is there a newer printing of this available?
  23. Mayday and Alan S, Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them both and see which way works best for me. Sure would be nice to not have to work around though.
  24. DavidB, The problem with that is as in my case I’m translating the toolpath for multiple vices in order of tool. When it posts it will run all parts at one depth then return to first vice and run the next depth, to much wasted movement. I can go and add more drilling cycles in order of succession but that is a work around I’d like to eliminate.
  25. Beggars can't be choosers. I can wait.
