Been having trouble with SE since V-18 not able to convert into MC from a .par file. This file cannot be saved backwards in SE.
Of course we can output an .X_T and if needed (it isn't with MC) save backwards to like V9.something of the parasolid, but for obvious reasons this is not only a pain, but time/space consuming.
Anyone else using SE back and forth with MC, and or having this problem? Solutions?

Here we only use control cutter compensation because it is easier to read at the machine (the NC code repeats the prints dimensions) and the operator can change cutter without the programmer having to retouch the program.I use wear when I need to, but for the above reasons usually use "control", but I am not paying operator wages, I am paying toolmaker wages, so they have all the flexibility I can give them, and they are held accountable as such.
brice, assuming that is 13.7MB left, I would set your database at 32000 and toolpath at 64000, then reboot the computer and start again on the toolpath.
But like billh says, if you can post your prg, or be more specific about the "jittery", that would help us help you too.
ghuns, I would drill them at 9000 RPM and 10 IPM and peck every .050 (about 1-1/2 x D).
You don't say how deep you have to drill, but how far the drill is hanging out makes a BIG difference. I don't have 30K spindle, so it isn't an option for me. Only have 10K.
Seiously, it would be worth it for that many holes to practice on scrap and "push 'er till she breaks, then back off a little" as what grade of graphite will make a difference, and your tooling. Also Ghuring drills are some real nice ones in the small stuff, unless you have diamond.
Yes Tommy I have had the same problems with corrupt entities and also the operation groups disappearing and all prgs lumped into one group. Also had corrupt entities opening V9 files in X.
jlambert,
What model Hurco are you running? I would be hard pressed to find one that will do a helix. You can make the cut if MC linearizes it, but I haven't seen a Hurco yet that would do a helix.
They are a different animal. I could be wrong, in fact I would like to be wrong and have someone tell us how to make it happen, but that is my experience.
BTW-where in Indiana are you?
For anyone interested in seeing another version of the set-up sheet form V9, I put "ncdatasheet.xlt" in the "set-up sheet" folder on the ftp.
My acknowledgements to Bruce, as I looked at his for a base, then masaged it to fit our needs.
I haven't got it done yet for X but you can see what it does in V9 if any of you are still using it. You have to move your pic to where you want it, which I sometimes put on separate page if I have lots of prgs.
Thank you Andreas and Gunther!!!!!
I will give you more fedback when I have had time to use it more. I have REALLY loved having the one you did for V9, so this will be good I am sure.
Well I would have to disagree with you, DrewG, on the statement that I can't give an "educated" answer to any of your questions, because I don't currently use any other CAM product. I do have Solid Edge, and it still kicks MC-X in some areas of CAD, with my admitedly limited X experience. But I have "test driven" many other softwares, and when I ask the person selling it if it will do something, and they say "no", I don't need to run the software to prove them right, because I AM EDUCATED.
Truth is, I don't have a need for mill/turn, and I don't currently have a 5-axis, so I don't miss those things. But MC still has limitations, always has, always will, just like every other CAD/CAM package on the market. We all just decide based on our needs, as you have.
Can't really say I would be any better about holding a grudge than DrewG after what he has been thru. I am also certain CNC software knew there would be people in his position and had to make a business decision that they believed would xxxx off the fewest customers. Sometimes life is like that. Not making any excuses for CNC, like I said I would be burned for a long time. I also would never allow my future ability to put work out be controlled by one (any) company, and I would always have a back-up plan for what I would do if "company X" didn't deliver.
But I think it might be time to get over it, and no I don't have a problem with anyone throwing accolades on any other software, just try not to do it out of spite, but out of a spirit of informing. So if all you speak is the truth, not embellished, then you are certainly welcome to relay your story. Just don't expect others to respond in a positive manner insdie of this forum, that should be easy to understand.

I suppose we all have our preferences....
I don't have my "X" yet, but I am looking forward to having unlimited levels, as I FREQUENTLY run out of levels when only half way through a job. I am sure it is the way I organize things, but it has worked well for me and I will continue, but won't have to "cramp" levels anymore.
I'll hold my tongue on the hotkeys until I get some sperience w/the new X.
But I still miss the "add/remove" buttons from the "old" levels manager.
