  4. quote: and they've always worked if I used them correctly. HTH I love it James!!! Jim
  5. Tony I am overjoyed to have a job. My ONLY snivel is that I need more challenge and a little room to grow. I probably posted hastily the other day but, my day job boss refuses to see the advantage of updating software (just sees $ signs) and is not interested in efficient mfg processes. But, that's yet another challenge! Thanks guys Jim
  6. Thanks James ...I'll give em a call after the first of the year Jim [ 12-23-2002, 01:42 PM: Message edited by: Jim Whipple ]

  8. I have a G Force 2 MX 400 in my home box and a G Force MX 440 at work both 64 meg...the one at work is better than the one at home. The concensus seems to be G Force 4 Ti 4400 and I think there are some older drivers on the FTP site that work to address the hidden cursor issue, Hope this helps Jim [ 12-19-2002, 10:43 AM: Message edited by: Jim Whipple ]

  14. Tony We have a Haas Mini Mill. If you can live with only 6k on the spindle and not a ton of power it is a great machine...within it's design limits! We've had ours a little over a year now, no reliability issues. It will every now and then fault on a tool change but I think that's because I don't have a lot of time to clean the machine. It's a little limited on memory also but when I need a big program I just DNC it so that's no big thing to me I don't think I'd go for the super mini mill though cause you can get more mill for the money with a larger Haas. The only other snivel I have is that it is a pain in the butt to get chips out of Other that that I think its a good machine HTH Jim [ 12-13-2002, 10:23 AM: Message edited by: Jim Whipple ]
  15. John I use 1 by 2 alum for jaws so if I need 3" dia I would make the jaws so I was cutting about 3/4" into the jaws. In otherwords your Y zero would be 3/4" off the jaw face. Then go however deep you need It's the surface area that holds the part more than the jaw pressure 1 1/2" spacer between the jaws Jim [ 12-12-2002, 11:39 AM: Message edited by: Jim Whipple ]
  16. The Metacut Utilities does just that http://www.metacut.com/ Jim
  17. Sorry... It's the adjust feed on arc move button And I'm still way back there at V8.1.1 too Jim
  18. Just a thought... Do you have the HSM box checked in the Job Setup page? I think that's the only thing that will get you variable feedrates. HTH Jim [ 12-12-2002, 10:14 AM: Message edited by: Jim Whipple ]
  19. I think that's Mastermachine...right down the street from me. The whole set of jaws is quite spendy though. Has V jaws, sine jaws and a bunch more. More geared towards a toolmaker than production though I'll see if I can find more info I made my own set after seeing theirs.. Jim
  20. quote: that way you don't have to take the screws all the way out everytime you change jaws. You been lookin over my sholder??? Jim
  21. Nice graphics on the opening page!! Jim
  22. Might want to read this: http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...ic;f=1;t=004498 Welcome to the Forum Jim
  23. This computer racin is tough eh? Jim
  24. I make a lot of soft jaws. When I go to machine them I use 123 blocks or a piece of steel to load the vice so when the jaws are closed the Z heights are right. No tilt, in other words I also make blank jaws up in advance just to speed myself up Jim
