  1. If you are on and off with the 4th axis alot ..........sub plate and keyways, perpendicular to the table slots...fixed work offset. Or put another key in the table

The Mits had the same grid search and retrace on the small holes and you could select/limit how many tries ....very handy.Prolly one of my favorite options cuz our edm drill wasn't very accurate(or the person running it, more likely) For the small holes we would switch out the nozzle/cup and would just tell it not to retract on threading and maintain the .004 cup to part clearance without the jet....worked well

Are those speeds accompanied by a different jet pressure as well when threading ? Some of the tiny start holes I had on the Mits needed to be autothreaded with no jet stream at all.... several auto retries.......fickle lil xxxx

Nah......that's who you need to call about. Go to a regional manager or higher. Chances are that if the service guys know nothing it's because of the manager.......Call regional and suggest to them that these guys, including the manager, need to take/retake the training program that Mitsibishi has......in the meantime you need someone from another facility to address your issues. Sqeakiest wheel......

Detroit area here. Not hard to beleive there is such a vast difference in service and knowledge. It is hard to beleive they let it happen tho......I would complain to someone up the chain from service location.

Ran MIts FA20 for about 6 yrs. Accuracy was unwavering. Power settings and powermaster easy to master. Auto threader worked great, but had to keep it spotless. Same with wire chopper. My only real complaint is the floats for the tank level were high maintenance. Mastercam 9 thru X4 worked well for flat work as well as 4axis. We did mostly flat die plates, punch holders, and extrusion dies with alot of 4axis forms . Did need separate diamond guides for different size wires. Flush cups, wire guides, carbide power feeders, etc. were always in stock and received great service and support from them. i would buy one In fact, with any luck we will get one where I'm at now .
  9. If it's coming in as one entity , chances are it's a solid model. Click screen/statistics and it will tell you. If your not comfy with solids then click create/surface/from solid and pick your solid. Save surfaces to another level and use those instead. If you're ok working with solids then activate your solid selection box and it will allow you to pick individual faces. You can also use boundaries to isolate geometry.
  10. Thanx fellas......that makes it easier
  11. Marshal, keep this thread alive if ya can, I would like to know what you purchase and some results and performance details when you can.
  12. Has anyone used the Big Kaiser Mega Micro Chuck for hard milling apps. Say....55ish Rc ? Mostly S7 and A2 Looks like it fits alot of our applications for 1-6 mm dia. cutters , just not sure if they are rigid enoough. I would think they are for such small doc and rdoc. I'm planning on having our local rep come do a test but word of mouth is priceless........
  13. I dug this up because I seem to have a similar issue. But only with contour paths ! When I turn G5.1 Q1 on in Misc. Values by setting Real to 2.0 it posts out the G49 and G5.1 Q1 just before feeding to every z depth..... When I hand edit, I simply put it in before G43 and at end of program the G5.1 Q0 with a G49 (which I assume i have to do because my toolchange macro doesn't have a G49 in it ?) if i don't, it alarms out when running the next program.... Is this just an error or a setting I am ignorant about ? Why does it post out with all those extra lines that causes the Z retract and error......haven't seen it anywhere but the contour ops. 14. +1 Brad in addition ..........What is it's function ? Bushing-what kind-oilite? composite? hardened steel? , bearing-what kind ? Steel , plastic ? loads applied- radial, axial?
  15. heeeeeyyy !!! THERE WILL BE NO SHANK RUBBING HERE!!
  16. are your planes set right ? I know I sometimes copy ops from one WCS to another and forget to, but it shows in the backplot in iso view....
  17. I've been getting very good results doing just that. Lighter faster cuts at the high end of sfm. Using fraisa and the hotmills , too. Edges hold up far longer as the hotmills don't last quite as well with the larger stepovers. Minimum 20 % faster feeds...... Also able to push those hotmills to 600 sfm in tool steels, .003-.005 per tooth. Not bad for half the price of varimill.
  18. What kind of Fanuc controller is it? Does it run smoothly or jerky at the directional changes in xyz ? Could be a combo of filtering/smoothing and lack of look ahead....HPCC, AI APC, AI Contour control, etc. I wouldn't expect to see marks that big from look ahead tho. Also if your roughing with a .375 ball and only leaving .002, that transition from .375 to .125 is awful big. I'm thinking I would do a leftover op and clear out the corners before finishing.
  19. Is it a solid piece or tubing ? Careful on a shotpeening a thinwall tube that big if your trying to hold a tolerance. Also induces compression or work hardening on the surface and leaves you less surface contact area. Don't know if that's an issue.... Years ago we used to make and rework printing press rollers and it didn't work so good on those because surface contact is needed. Ended up flash chroming and regrinding $$$$$ There is something called laser peening that's done by robot and computers, but I think it's more for stress releiving and surface hardening.....
  20. Very simple part.....but can't get + z stock from additional stock . Gives stock everywhere else......is this normal, or am i missing something ? You can see the stock everywhere else in grey.... Nevermind...... LMAO....dumbars....DOH !!....uncheck facing op
  21. That's the one thing I hate about this trade. Do people think that they don't have to be sanitary cuz it's industrial attire/atmosphere. I shower and dress every morning(usually )like I respect myself and the people around me no matter where I work, shop or office...and again at night if need be. I had one guy tell me "well i stink when I get outta here anyway". Great f&^%hole !!! Now I gota smell the shop and you too ??!! Geeeeez, how do these slobs ever get layed.... We can smoke outside, I don't ever take a typical sit down break so it evens out, timewise.
  22. Are you using X6 ? I've had the dirty op thing happen on several occasions as well. even when just turning on coolant or changing fd/spds. I don't know exactly what causes it . Did you update to the newest level of 6 yet and it's still happening. I downloaded the newest 6 but haven't installed it yet.
  23. oh that's right, it will. Haven't started from scratch in so long I forgot about that. I'll txt him to check. Thanx Keith.
  24. Have a friend with lathe x5 that keeps losing his default and has no machine group on start up. His default settings don't stick and even a default machine group doesn't come up at start up. Even after resetting defaults and closing then reopening it comes up blank. He has had reseller involved to no avail......I know mine says " The Toolpath manager must have at least one group" if you try and even delete the default and empty the op manager. His mach def. is set , config, and posts are set and everything seems to be pointed (files) to the right place. Any thoughts on this or things to recheck ?
