  1. When I try to verify toolpaths on a 5 axis part, I get a box that comes up and says Invalid Access Code. I hit ok and get another one that says: Access Code Required for 4 and 5 axis verify? how do i fix this?
  2. yeah, it seems to lock up my toolbars in everything.
  3. I am working on a project that includes some 5x programming. Sometime when i am doing the toolpaths, mastercam starts acting weird. If i have my mouse over in the drawing area, my part acts like it is in dynamic rotation. even if i dont hit anything and just move my mouse around, it rotates and moves my part. Also, if I shut down mastercam and restart, i can't click on anything in it, or even click on anything in an internet explorer window either. I have to shut down and reboot. anyone else experience this?
  4. cool, i think i got it. thanks for the help guys
  5. Jeff, I need to create a new drawing, so I cannot leave stock on. Del, what do you mean by blank all the ent? Need more info. thanks.
  6. if you select your surfaces, it wont allow you to choose xyz on scale
  7. This is a surface pocket toolpath. I would like to be able to just select the surfaces and do it up.
  8. I have a complex pocket in a part. I need to machine the entire pocket a hundred thousandths deeper, wider, and longer. I need to create a new drawing for this particular project. Is there a way I could somehow scale or offset the entire pocket by .1 on every side so that is is deeper, wider, and longer by .1?? Any help would be better than none. Thanks in advance.
  9. When I got o Create-->Curve-->On all Edges, I activate solid selection. When I select the solid, it creates the curves on the edges. But when I go to select these lines, it wont let me. They stay yellow, instead of switching to green and I can do anything with them? Any idea why?? Thanks in advance.
  10. MLS, these are just test pieces to determine which type of geometry is easier to cut. i have 5 different models. Once the final say is made, and the designs are accepted, we will make 6 parts that are 28"x16"x3". those will be tested for stregth, and after the final part is determined it will be machined out in a part that is 48"x20"x3"
  11. Oh, and these pockets are only .48 deep, we have to flip the part and do the exact same thing on the to other side. by time we get done, all walls and floors will be .04 thick.
  12. MLS, we are leaving .1 on the pockets. And finish machining them to .04 thickness using .1 setp down. We have to be careful of how we machine this becuase it cannot warp, and being Al 7050-T7451, that makes it a little more tricky.
  13. i am not using surface toolpaths for this because it is alot easier to do just using simple contour and pocket toolpaths. I created curves on all the edges and got rid of what i need.
  14. For this part, I am using thin wall machining techniques. I know that I can select all the pockets and use the depth cut settings so that it will maching every one to my maximum cutter depth, and then again and so on until they are the correct depth. I am stepping down .1 every time. Is there a way to link a pocket and contour so that after all the pockets have been machined to the first depth (.1), the cutter will contour the outside at the same depth. And then just repeat the process again and again until I am at depth? I think it would be like linking the toolpaths together, but not sure. Any body have any ideas??
  15. I looked under cut depths parameters, and now the first cut is at the top of the part (z of 0).
  16. I have a surface pocket that I want to machine, I want to leave .1 stock on the drive surfaces. I my cut depths set up to adjust the first cut to maximum cut depth (.1). When I create the toolpath, the first cut is .1 above the part and just cuts air. If I leave nothing on the drive surfaces, the first cut is a .1 into the part. It seems like that when I leave the .1 on the drive surfaces, it shifts the entire toolpath up by .1. I would think that it would eliminate the top cut since it would not cut any material, but it just cuts away at air. Any ideas of how to change this so that it will cut .1 into the part on the first cut? thanks in advance.
  17. Top of the job. We use a presetter on a HAAS and probe the part to get the correct Z setting.
  18. I am creating a part as a solid in MXC. It is a boring bar holder I am building to attach to a Digibore boring head. I created the hole for the boring bar, and the 4 holes for the bolts that will hold the attachment to the head. Because of the layout of the screw patter, the 4 bolt holes intersect with the thru hole for the boring bar. So I am going to counter bore them deep enough to clear the boring bar thru hole, but I keep getting this error when I go to create it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  19. quote: Make sure to leave yourself enough time to sweep up the chips before you leave. Hey Colin, make sure you stop by the local bakery and bring in fresh doughnuts for everyone, and be there early enough to have coffee made.
  20. I was just messing around trying to do it. I have done it before in Autodesk Inventor.
  21. I am trying to create a thread in Solids. i created the cylinder. Put a helix around it, and create a triangle at the end that I want to sweep along the helix cutting the body. I get this error Am I doing something wrong, or is it Mastercam??
