  1. I don't see a macro override for the rapid in the Haas. Looks like a custom macro is needed.
  2. Yea, I know. but this is a 2 man shop.
  3. Rqpid override on the machine. I use it on the lathe, a lot. Gives a chance for the tool to cool off and flush the chips off the drill. Mainly for deep drilling of 35% glass filled nylon.
  4. If you hear "chirping sounds" from the top of the machine while running 1000 psi, its a sign your rotary union is going out and needs to be checked. I will make a BIG mess if it goes. And cost some $$$ to repair the damage.
  5. I use a TSP 1.0 " drill 6.0" long with 300psi. Blows thru it with no issues. Steel or Aluminum.
  6. Im doing a 1/16 drill at 300 psi. works fine. I use it all the time. Just keep the tank topped off and make sure the coolant is draining from inside. The chips in a Haas are a pain.
  7. And a 5" saw WILL NOT FIT THE TOOL CHANGER ! You'll have to load that by hand. Id go with what Bob said. Look into a extrusion
  8. On that setup CARBIDE SQUARE TOOTH ROUGHER 10000 RPM 150 IPM OR BETTER .500 DIA .500 DEEP .250 STEPOVER COOLANT ON FLOOD LEAVE .02/.03 FINISH WALLS .010 FLOOR They are 3/4 an 1.0 dia roughers It breaks the chips up without the tool pressure
  9. Just a work of caution. This is fiberglass material. This stuff get into the air , gets on your skin, and in YOUR LUNGS!! WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR AT ALL TIMES. GET A VACUMN THAT HAS A MICRO FILTRATION SYSTEM SO IT DOESN'T GET BACK INTO THE AIR. And use it. Don't rum your skin during or after use. Wash, Wash , Wash. It doesn't take much to cause a lot of problems down the road. Machineguy
  10. One thing, change your RPM to 10,000 for Alum. with a 1/8 cutter.
  11. Murphy Go back to your dealer that sold you the indexer. There are a lot of parameters to set when adding a forth to a machine. Its got to be right. Start there. Guitar, Play nice. Machineguy
  12. Call out a face mill Edit the tool . On the first page: Change the 45 deg angle to 0 deg. Now change the diameters and cutting length. Go to the second page and set your tool #, speed and feeds. Save it to your library.
  13. Break the arc into 2 parts. Chain 1/2, then chain the other 1/2.
  14. And what is wrong with the Probe cycles that are in the machine? If you bought the probe from Haas, they are there to use. Just asking?
  15. No alarms will happen. Your operator need to pay attention and adjust those comps for every program. Its good practice to zero all those tool comps out at the end of each program to be safe!! Also it should be stated in the setup sheet that the values need to be based on how the program is written. Machineguy
  16. I attended a class by a instructor that is on the committee and wrote the book on y ansi 14.5. What a eye opener.
  17. This is a big help guys. In about 2-3 weeks I'll know what the owners want to spring for in new machines. What I'm looking at is taking on some aluminum plate work. I need to remove material as fast as possible in the rough process. That's means up to 1 in deep pockets with a lot of islands. With a 15000 RPM spindle I can push 200+ in a min. at full depth. I don't want the tool coming out. This job is about 8000 hrs a year running. That's a min of 2 machines, more likely 3 just to do the work. So now the wait period. Thanks all. Machineguy
  18. Get the information off the motor tag YOu need the frame size, voltage, rpm. frame size should give you the duty cycle required. Now look up in Granger, and McMaster Carr and see what you can find. Look at how the motor mounts also.
  19. Chime in. What has worked best? Cost? best brands? Issues? 15000 RPM spindle
  20. Do a search for "Probe, machineguy. I covered this a while ago for a Haas and how you can put this in the program so its automated. Machineguy
