The database function worked great! Thanks again so much. Now, is there a way to see how many (and of which kind) of entities are in the selection set? List the screen statistics...

    Analyze

cobra95kev, That is what I am looking for. Is the function available in X3? I've been doing Mastercam at night, so I'll look tonight. Thanks!
  3. I want to pick the actual circles (i.e. using entities, by layer)and using that method I can't get the entities to sort in the order I pick the entities. If I use the pointer and select the center of the arc, the depth value in the parameter tab is grayed out.
  4. I have sort turned off in my drill manager, but the entities are still not drilling in the order I picked them. I use circles to drill / bore. I seem to remember a trick here to force Mastercam to ignore any auto sort but I’m drawing a blank. Thanks, Kathy

    Analyze

Thanks Tyler, I remember about the button in the Operations Manager; I was just hoping there was a function going in the other direction. Click on an entity and the toolpath information is also shown. Kathy And yes I posted without filling in the complete topic title :embarrassed: When I noticed, I quickly fixed it. Boy, is today turning into a real Monday .

    Analyze

Isn't there a way to analyze an entity and see what toolpath is associated to the entity? Sorry, but I'm a bit rusty.. MasterCam X3 Mill
  7. Hi Gcode, I'm using a company laptop trying to access the company license, via the VPN so I should be okay as far as fire wall, security... I found the code lines for the Nethasp.ini file: NH_SERVER_ADDR = 10.20.10.20 ; IP addresses of all the NetHASP ; License Managers you want to search. ; Unlimited addresses are possible. ; ; Possible address format examples: ; IP address: 192.114.176.65 ; Local Hostname: ftp.aladdin.co.il -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Silly question I know, but do I replace the 10.20.10.20 with 192.114.176.65? Kathy (Yea - I'm back doing some MasterCAM work!)
  8. Hello All, I was able to set this up once and I'm attempting to do so again. I have a document I got from CNC Softwate the explains how to edit the nethasp .ini file to search for the IP address of the machine with the Nethast installed. The document and hardware are at home right now; I was hoping I could varify the syntax. Thanks, Kathy
  9. Well - Today's my last day here at AASC, and Mastercam! It's been fun, and I'll keep in touch in the off-topic. Kathy (looking for a catus pic for my new avatar)
  10. Mike - As I pointed out (and added the code) editing the points after makes it much worse!! I get all sorts of extra garbage points in Mastercam, and it combined two of my points into one dog leg move. Kathy
  11. Vericut! It's really isn't hard IF you go to the training - DC Corn is absolutly right - not a good trail and error learning softare. But once Vericut is setup it's a piec of cake to use. It is pricy, but you know the old saying - you get what you pay for! Kathy
  12. Has anyone gotten real good at editing tool paths in MR2 (X) ??? I could use some help; maybe I'm doing somthing wrong, or we have bugs loose... At the start of the rapid positioning move, I want to add three points to drive the tool around the bottom of the part so I don’t rapid over the top of the part. I have hard points to locate my moves. I right mouse click the Operation Title which puts me into the ‘Toolpath Editor’ dialog box. I check the ‘Before’ Option and ‘Add Point’ and select the first point. Again, till all three points are selected. The problem I have is that my three added points are G1 at a feedrate, when they should be rapid. Of Course, the first move in the initial profile is a rapid move, and the help implies that the added points should have the same parameters as the existing points. So in summary, I can get the path I want, but the movement is a feedrate. … N35 Y142.35 N36 Z.08 F20. 13. I'm going to bump this to the top... Last week I installed two more seats of Mastercam X here at work, and I'm trying to get them both up and running and the config's up to date with all of our custom stuff. I cannot get our custom .html setup sheet to work. Yes, I have the file 'fixedsetupsheet.dll' loaded. I also installed the 1/17/2006 Mastercam web download on one seat this afternoon. When I was installing and dialing in MR1 back in January I could just sort of limp along getting everything to work. Than I switched to the Beta installations and rarely run MR1. Do I remember what I did back in January? So I guess my frustration is that it would be nice to be able to load and configure Mastercam by following a set list of instructions with the patches and fixes clearly identified by date and Mastercam install. For example, ‘xxxx.dll’ works with MR1/SP1, build date 12/1/2005, but not MR1/SP2, build date 1/17/2006. !! In addition, shouldn’t the SP# be visible when I cnt’l v to show the Mastercam version? I am running MR1 (10.1.3.34 with a build date of 1/6/2006) but I don’t remember what service packs I installed. The new seat has the mastercamx-mr1-web.exe, the version shows MR1 (10.1.3.34 with a build date of 1/6/2006 – when I first checked it had a build date of 1969!!!) I’ve sent two zip-to-go files to qc. Kathy
  14. 6 years! Amazing! Thank You Dave Kathy
  15. Look at Onsrud cutters. We use the 'O-Flute' a lot to cut alum. sheet on our Komo router. It's a single straight flute router bit, and it will not lift up the material. http://www.onsrud.com/ ~Kathy
  16. Found it! Under either Select All or Select Only there is a check mark for ‘Plane mask in chaining’. Now I can pick the chain that is planer to my Cplane and get just that chain. But it would be nice to have access to the full chain option menu, like in V9. Now I will have to play with the difference between ‘Plane mask in chaining’ and ‘Ignore depths in chaining’ ~Kathy
  17. How do I??? Access the chain option menu when picking a chain using the General Selection Ribbon Bar? I know the chain menu comes up in solids or toolpath selection. But let’s say I wan to pre-select a chain to copy levels or translator or whatever, and I need the option menu to narrow my selection. ~Kathy Thanks in Advance........
  18. Oh No Chris! We will miss you a lot. Perhaps you can retain consulting privileges if only to perform an occasional banning. Or when you train your protégée, we can convince some of our most nefarious trolls to return and put him / her through the ringer! Can anyone here name the first person to be banned from this forum? I’m sure Jack will cough up a prize for the right answer. Yeh right – I’m still waiting for my Billy Jack correct answer prize. Anyway – Chris – life is about moving on and upward and I wish you the best. ~Kathy
  19. Unfortunately, we have a very expensive assembly we are machining, so an oops is just not an option. But I think the damage is minimal I hope I hope I hope. Plus, we have a green operator (very good machinist, but new to CNC) and I felt bad for him. However, for the rest of his life he will always now check the T number against the D (of H) number. Otherwise, all is well – Oh, except for the corner of an edge he chipped last night. I have a surface machining tool path for a transition from the top to the bottom face (gets very thin at the top) and I was using a flat diamond coated end mill. I have another diamond end mill (tapered bull nose) that we are going to use this morning. ~Kathy And speaking of sailing – I’m going to be selling my Cal 25 this spring. But she’s a wonderful little Delta boat, so I know I'll find a happy buyer!
  20. Because of Mastercam X, the tool length offset number did not match the tool number. OUCH! IMO - the offset numbers should always match the tool number by default, and change ONLY when the programmer chooses to change them. Right now – in Mcam X – the numbers differ (by default / error) and I cannot find a way to reset them easily. Way back, pre version 9 I could at least double click on the tool number and all was well. So well it hasn’t been an issue until now. Of course, way back when and I learned how to synchronize the tool / offset numbers, I also added a safety line to my two posts. tlngno$=t$ So I would not have to remember to fix Mastercam all of the time. This time I got bit big time using my other, more obscure post; a post where I did not add this vital piece of code. The damage to the part (a very expensive part I might add) was slight, but it is damage nonetheless. Tony – I experimented with your instructions and I finally got it to work. But unless CNC sees the value of a default (to the same numbers) I’m going to stick to my tried and true post override. ~Kathy
  21. Thanks John - I just now requested the High Technology Catalogue from the OSC website. The sp3 tools look very promising. We have a couple of insert holders with PCD inserts that work great in a rigid setup. What is killing us now is this particular setup is very non-rigid and we are stuck using a tapered end mills (formed cutter) to machine the path. We had some special PCD cutters made in the formed shape but they are straight flute and already dull. I don’t know why (I wasn’t involved when buying these tools) a helix wasn’t considered. Diamond wears very quickly too. Anyway, I’m looking for quick alternatives. Three more parts to run and no real tools. ~Kathy
