Enhanced Toolpath Mirroring
Maintain cutter compensation in mirrored toolpaths, saving time and avoiding on-machine errors.
omg I think I shed a tear when I seen this happy happy day
Ive always had problems with importing operations from one file to another or from a library to a file. Some days its on, some its not and it corrupts everything in its path. Been burned a couple times on it as well. When it does do something bad, its usually something really small and I miss it occasionally (example: Imported tool #3, changed the diameter comp to #6... not good)
edit:: I havent had a chance to do some importing since I installed sp1 so I cant comment on the current version.
Mornin folks This morning when I try and startup mcamx my virus scanner (Avast) alarms and tells me 3 of the X+ chooks xsetupsheet.dll, tlist.dll, and xchgnci.dll contain parts of a trojan Win32:Agent-IYW and whenever I fire up mastercam I cant even see the toolist or setupsheet buttons on my X+ toolbar even though I tell my scanner to take no action. Any ideas what to do here?
Im using mitsubishi's bxd line of indexable cutters for aluminum and I usually ramp @ 18 degrees. The book says I can do 20 degrees but I usually cut it a little short just to stay in range and be a tad more safe.

Regarding the cut depths...
I tried to report that as a bug a long time ago but it was rejected if I recall correctly.
With the old toolpaths, what you specify for the max depth is what the max depth actually cuts. With these new ones, it is allowed to vary by whatever your tolerance is set to.
Regarding the feed rates, I would send that to QC...
Which tolerance does it set these depths to? My post settings or is it the minimum step down?
Doesn't work. I use wear comp as well so as a default the optimize checkbox is greyed out. When I put it control comp it still doesn't finish the chain.
Hey folks I got a question thats been bugging me lately. I uploaded a file called CONTOUR1.mcx to the FTP (ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MCX_MR2_or%20Earler_Files/) This contour has an intersecting line in the toolpath and for the life of me I cant find an option in the chaining to make it follow the entire chain. When it gets to the point that intersects, it breaks off. I want it to follow the entire chain. Is there a setting I can use that will let me do this? Or do I have to keep doing what im doing with extra geometry creation?
edit:: Using Mastercam X2 mr1
Im having issues with these toolpaths too and its stuff I cant figure out.
I can tell it to do a core roughing and leave .01 on the walls and 0.00 on the floors and it still cuts to .0001 to .0005 above the actual finish of my part. I like to also use profile ramp entry and set the entry feed to "feed rate" yet it still outputs my rapid feedrate no matter what I change.
Im starting to teach myself how to use high speed toolpaths and so far im really liking how they process out. I am having a problem though with stock and actual part. Lets say you have 1/4 extra material around the part and one of the pockets in a part is say like an open pocket. How do you set your parameters so that it starts outside the stock instead of just the part surfaces? Do you create extra surfaces to fake it in or is there some setting in the parameters that im missing to make this work? Any help is appreciated.
Using Mcam x2 MR1 (finally!!)

This bug was in mcamx as well. Importing operations were almost pointless in that version. Import operation, not only would the offset/length numbers be completely different then the tool highlighted in the tool manager, the length OR diameter number were wrong too.
Looks like the import operation with the wrong tool is still there even in mr1
Ive got the same monitor as bogus with the 1920x1200 viewing area. Simply amazing! Every possible toolbar I need fits in 2 rows along the top. I loaded my config file on a coworkers 17" lcd and it took up 6 lines @ the top of the screen
Bruce if you could get the engineers I work for to model like that it would make my year
I have never, ever received a cad file modeled to nominals and in some cases completely different then print dimensions.
Terry: Not the operation defaults. Its randomtoolpaths.operations. I want to edit an operation library I made so when Im doing families of parts I just import toolpaths from this toolpath library.
John: The only thing it lets me edit are the xxx.defaults. This operation library is something I created seperate from the defaults.
In version 9 I used to be able to edit the toolpath operation libraries I made through Define Operations.
Where is this function in version X? I added some toolpaths and geometry to an operation library I made and I want to remove them. How do I do this in X??

I'm not trying to bust anyone's balls but not having a daily backup to another location, regardless of file size, is poor business practice.

Thats the beauty with this. My backup file *was* in a different location. Mastercam decided that it wanted to wipe my backup as well. It looks like when it crashed to desktop it did an autosave on the crashed version of my file.
Hate to sound like im ranting but this just puts me in a bad situation.
Does this backup utility thing even exist in my version? I don't see this anywhere only thing I have is autosave.
edit: What I dont understand is all these people have had the same thing happen to them and in order to get a fix my company would have to pay some maintenance to get this working right.
I have been working on this part for 3 days now with tons of geometry, toolpaths, and levels. Today I went to save the file and I got an error while saving and Mastercam CTD'd (No big deal, I get these on a daily basis). I reopen mastercam and the file I have been working on and its empty. Everything is gone. No toolpaths, geometry or levels.
Is there any way possible to get this file back? Did mastercam just screw me? If there is any possible way I could get this file back please let me know.
