  1. I have to drill .062 diameter holes, 136 X, .63 deep/thru in A-2, not hardened. I talked to MA Ford, just looking for some more leads/input on what drills others have used for similar cases. Thanks.
  2. Up graded mine too, to 16 gig. Didn't make a difference, as far as for X7. I can have Mastercam x6 and Solidworks both open and bounce back and forth without any hesitation. But when i open X7 and try to verify a simple part, wow, holy slow down. Don't know what the deal is.
  3. I'll chime in on this subject. X7 verify is horrible!! I thought it was just my under rammed computer, but have just recently upgraded my RAM and video card to what mastercam recommends.... and not any better. X6 verify, the way the stock model pops up right where i have the geometry was the best. Now that another window has to open, sucks. I have a very simple part drawn up to run in verify and the window locks up and says not responding. Mastercam...why mess up a good thing?
  4. Thanks for the tip CamMan. That worked for me. Really frustrating when you get used to something like the verify in X6 and then all changes to upgrade to X7. That verify sucks! Opening another window slows the cpu down. And the dynamic rotate is not an option in the right click menu anymore. I hope it gets fixed in X8.
  5. I have all that stuff done on my computer that you mentioned, but the file to be previewed is sooooo slow to pop up. Locked up my computer actually. X6 worked so fast, then had to upgrade to X7 that was a little slower, now in X8 can't get a preview to pop up at all. I hope improvements to X8 come out soon.
  6. Thanks for the input Jay, but the boss would never buy a 3rd party editor when mastercam already has one. I just went into config, and changed the editor to the one that came with X6. Works great for me and its what i'm used to. I don't need all the compare and other jazz of the higher end editors.
  7. Hey CJep, i read your post on X8 will have dynamic rotate in verify. Where is it? I like the right click method as was in X6. I thought upgrade to X8 from X7 would have fixed that.
  8. Thanks Mick, i did that and now i can use the old X6 editor. Ahhhh, nice to be back to whats familiar.
  9. I'll put in my 2 cents. I don't care for any off the editors with X7. That code expert sucks. Always locking up. Notepad is the best one for me and thats not saying a whole lot for MasterCam. Anyway to use the MasterCam editor that was in X6, to work with X7? I like to see the file size at the bottom of the window and none of the ones that come with X7 have that. When i program, i have to watch how big the programs are since our old cnc machines have limited capacity for file size.
  10. "All off" doesn't shut off the one that has the X in it though.
  11. Ya i guess that works. I had to make a dummy level and make that level visible which has no entities so nothing shows up.
  12. Thanks for replies, where do you go to make them inactive?
  13. Finally got switched over to X7. When i go into verify to see my part getting machined, the construction lines from my part show up. I want just the stock to show up like it did in X6. Does anyone know how to shut off the lines, geometry?
  14. I like to keep my center wheel button on "pan", X7 needed to have the option to add the dynamic rotation to the right mouse button menu in verify, like you can do in the construction window going thru "settings, customize"
  15. I've used the lathe thread tables as well. Great tip!
  16. I also have had this error before. I am running X6 and using FX20 Mits edm. Sometimes when i program the geometry sent to me by the customer, it will give me that arc error. So i have to actually redraw the shape, or part or whatever it is, in MasterCam. MasterCam will program it just fine, but the machine won't like something in the program. I hope this helps.
  17. Another thing i should've said was...I am using X6 yet. So if not X6 that probably won't make sense
  18. Hey Chris, I use stl. files often to see my parts as a complete part. After making your tool operations, run verify to check your part. I assume you do that anyway? Then with the verify options still open, just like for the mill, save as a file. The icon is right above the running man, where you can slide the button back and forth to slow down the verify or speed it up. Then open the .stl file in its own drawing and rotate/flip the part around, just like you really would at the lathe to do the second op. Then "save as" that file, keeping it a .stl file. Just remember where you saved it. Then go back into drawing you were working on. When you get the next set of operations done, and want to verify......open up the verify window and then click "options". That button is above the little guy walking slow. Then just find your .stl file and load it. Hard to explain everything in text. Let me know how far you get and i'll see if i can answer more.
  19. The 82 deg angles will be milled on or ground on, not sure what i'm going to do yet. Then i will do the wire work. The angles in post #3 are my concern. The machine is Mitsubishi FX20. Not sure on travel, but there is plenty. I guess i should ask the boss how he thought we were going to do it. He's the one that quote it. Thanks for all input. It means a lot to me. Sometimes i get stuck on projects, so i come to this forum. Very valuable too!!
  20. Thanks for your reply Crazy^Millman. The second reply with the one with the bigger angles i am talking about. The first ones you mentioned are flaws in the drawing. Ya, i'm thinking a separate setup too. Not sure what i'm going to do yet. Thanks for your input.
  21. I got this part handed to me today. I've wired this part before, but now they added the 2x 3/64 chamfers. Not sure how to go about this. Is it even possible to wire? Using Mastercam 6x, i know, i'm behind. Wire EDM is Mits FX20. Any help is appreciated. wirepart.pdf
