Good answer Keith
many people forget this fact, in high altitude locations it is impossible to obtain 29' hg. Places I have been to in Mexico, I was lucky to get 22" hg. The temperature is also a factor.
However as someone who works with cnc routers daily machines with large tables the idea of a 3/8 hose will never work. If you are looking to evacuate a 5'*10' area and hold the parts with flow through (that is the ability to put a waste sheet on the machine then hold your parts with the vacuum drawing through that sheet, no pre drilled holes.) If your cutting hard wood on pods, then that would work

Could you elaborate a bit more on what material, you will be cutting, Is it furniture grade plywood, or is it the cheaper cdx ply that is badly warped. Becker makes good vacuum pumps, I personally like Kaiser I use these quite often for my customers they come in many diferent hp
This is a rotary screw type, it also is expensive
Another one is Decker this uses fluid to make the seal

rotate the object to be machined, then define the new work plane cplane-entity choose x and y then select save. Be sure to set the Z contruction level. As long as your spindle is on the same angle, you can machine this without the aggregate c hook. If you want to use the aggregate c hook for this your post will have to be set according to your machine specs.

I do this all the time
Depending on how some people write their ladder logic some accessories could turn on immediately when either the nc or servo system is ready. So as to prevent this pressing the estop prior to shut down assures those accessories will only restart after the estop has been released.
On some machines I write the ladder logic so that after you release estop you must press reset.
have a nice long weekend
George
There is a belief that you should press estop first to turn off the servo drives, so that when you turn off the main power there is no spike in the drive system

Alltech Machinery located in East Rutherford NJ is looking for an applications engineer. The successful candidate will work with customers in the northeast teaching mastercam router, and getting customers into production. Knowledge of woodworking is a big plus, the job also requires some machine setup and basic troubleshooting.
For consideration send resume to [email protected]
thank you

I have cut nylon many times on routers, do you have high rpm capability?
If yes then go 16-18,000 rpm Onsrud has a cutter 60-249 which does a nice job

I used mastercam router with nesting on a daily basis. It is a very powerful option, there are many features, you should get a demo from your reseller

exactly my feelings Millman, I love the work , I just hate driving 1,000 miles per week sitting in New York traffic
thanks

Ok here is another question. Obviously everyone on this forum has some kind of technical experience. If you were offered $200,000 a year to sell vacuum cleaners would you? Would you be happy? Could you stand it after a few weeks? Or would you quit and go back to your original position earning $40,000 per year, were you are technically challenged, and your burning desire to learn new stuff is satisified?
I am in this situation now, I was offered a position in a completely different career, 2 miles from home, a small increase in pay up front, but the ability to earn much more is there. So in 1 year I could be earning 25 percent more, and no traveling like I do now. (I drive 47,000 miles a year)But will I be challenged the way I am now? I need to be learning new things. BTW its not selling vacuum cleaners!
Confused
George
Do you think you are paid well for what you do?
Now I know everyone has to make a living, and there is something for every person to do, but lately I have become upset with the salaries of some people who know much less than me. Quite frankly I do not believe anyone in the machine tool business is paid enough for the skills and knowledge you must have. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and an associates in electrical engineering technology, but to be honest thats nothing compared to years of traveling the planet building machines, teaching, and putting out fires, and a New York city sanitation worker with his over time makes more money than me, and has much more vacation time. I cannot be out of work for 2 days never mind 5 weeks, can you? Definitely not in this industry, we are not pins in a wheel. I have a friend that sells insurance and make five times my salary
Maybe I should sell insurance, I guess I could but I know I would not like it, I love the machine tool business.
I guy I know at the local airport got hired last year by Continental airlines, he made 22,000 dollars his first year, again a new sanitation worker makes more money than him. He is responsible for the lives of all on his plane, and a garbage man is responsible for not breaking a garbage can, what is wrong here?
Will the day ever come where skilled people can truly earn what they are worth?
I apologize for my fustration, I am curious if anyone else feels the same
thank you
George
The Phoenix was taken out of service, as for me I am an engineer for Alltech machinery we are a dealer of cnc routers in the northeast and a mastercam router reseller.
BTW did you work at POP when Arthur Seder was there?

I was just reading about you. I used to live in Woodhaven, went to Queensborough, and recently installed a cnc router provided training and wrote their post at POP displays.

I installed some of the Heian machines at Warvel in Wisconsin and provided cnc programming training
I was unaware they were using mastercam
I gave the demo for the first Heian that Tim and Bob purchased in 1986
Good luck

Hey Jimmy
Its a Northwood router with the HSD HSK63 spindle 20 HP. The material is 6061 aluminum
Tapmatic swears people tap at 1000-2000 rpm
Our customers does not want to do thread milling, I guess he is figuring the tap head is faster
regards
George
Does anyone have any experience using tapmatic heads in a router spindle. I am trying to help one of my customers with a HSK63 router spindle, I tried to tap a 1/4X20 hole at 500 rpm and I stalled the spindle, and you could guess what happened to the tap. I tapped the same hole at 1500 rpm the spindle did not stall but the quality of the thread was poor. I used a 2 flute gun tap, I dont remember the feedrate, but it was the correct feed for that rpm and pitch. Basically my question is should I be looking at some other kind of taps?
thank you
George
Hey all
after parts have been nested with toolpath using router 9.1sp2. the customer wants to move the start points on each individual toolpath to prevent parts from moving (parts are held by vacuum) How can we invoke the chain manager in the nest
thank you
George
Hi everyone
I have done a search but perhaps its late my brain is slow, I cannot understand why mc tries to turn cutter comp on in G2 or G3
I want a finish pass in my pockets, so I checked that, I turned on lead in lead out and select Plunge after first move, and retract before last move
this should give me a leadin in move with a G01 why dont it
thanks
