  2. quote: Chris, we are having new shirts/logos made as we type here. Start checking the mail real soon Ripper teh customer..
  3. I tried the nesting for a little while with a demo SIM and wasn't too pleased. Even Jimmy from Barefoot CNC couldn't sell me on it when he was here... We were able to more efficiently nest things manually. I suppose it depends on the size/type of items you're making.. We were trying to nest long arched pieces of plywood as an example and ended up doing it manually.. HTH.. and I'm not trying to bash anything.. MC has made my job so much easier!
  4. The people sueing you aren't gonna try and get just what your insurance will pay out, they will try to get as much as their lawyer tells them they can, based on previous case awards and such. They can sue you for more than you're covered for. Then you or the feds start auctioning and liquidating your assets.. So your thinking on that is a little off.. I think.. You need to be really negligent for someone to sue you for that kind of $.. Like if you kill someone when you're driving drunk. The way I figure, I'll never be driving drunk or driving stupid, so I'm not gonna let an insurance guy talk me into forking over my hard earned $ to him.. Simple homeowners and auto is good enough for me... But that's just me..
  5. quote: Keep Coop straight and happy holiday. Keep him straight? Is there something I need to be worrying about? LOL Let me know when you get that drilling thing figured out. Am I correct in saying that with the 5ax drill, that I'm not able to control the order that the holes are drilled like I am with the 3ax drill cycle? I picked the points in the order that I wante them drilled but it disreards that order when backplotting and when run on the machine..
  6. quote: Not everyone can go out and get a half million dollar 5ax CMS. Why not? Yeah Coop is headed out this way. Here I am talking bad about thermwoods while our machine is down. But I wouldn't have any time to read/post here if it were up. Boss said that it woulda been $30,000 more for 8" more Z. Looks like we should have spent $530,000. Live and learn, hehe Yep, got the shirt yesterday. Many thanks to you and Katie for getting it for me... And for all your help the past few weeks. We really appreciate it. Talk to you later, Bubba. Ripper teh back to drawing..

  8. quote: All the guy wanted was a picture of a router. I don't know one router from the next, but the site has pictures of them. I'm not recommending a brand here but only a visual. I know Rob. It's just that you said such a naughty word, thermwood.
  9. quote: See this web site for routers. http://www.thermwood.com/ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
  10. quote: If it were my money, I'd seriously look into a Haas Router, CMS, Shoda, or possible a Heian. *GASP* at CMS being #2
  11. Oh lordy, really I am smart, I promise.. Don't tell Jimmy! haha Thanks for the help Trevor. Looking forward to working with you guys at Barefoot. Ripper teh goof
  12. Trevor, It's weird that you're able to break the lines and I am not. When I tried to break the one on the left, I did modify/break/at inters and selected the circles and and the 4 vertical lines, then hit done, and all it broke was that one quadrant. Maybe I'll capture a little video of my process? Running version 9.1... Next time you see Jimmy, make sure and tell him I really appreciate his help this week.
  13. I'm not sure what exactly it is that I'm doing wrong here, but I'm having trouble breaking lines along this cylinder. Uploaded the drawing the FTP under MC9 files named 'breakcylinder.mc9' on the left you can see my attempt to break up the arcs by intersections, and that didn't do all the intersections. and when I try modify/trim it says they don't intersect, when I drew the lines from quadrant to quadrant.. This isn't my final geometry, just a simple drawing explanation of my question.. I need to know how to fix it so I can apply it to my REAL geometry.. Thanks
  14. quote: I suppose now wouldn't be a good time to tell everyone I'm a gay Mexican Peta member who doesn't believe in God. Did you also need a post?
  15. quote: Unfortunately Colorado Identification requirements, 42-2-107 and 42-2-302 CRS were revised as of 07/03 to require two forms of identification - according to the the DMV supervisor that I spoke with, this was a result of 9/11. I am looking at a copy right now - it doesnt help my blood pressure...... The opening quotation is: "42-2-107 and 42-2-302 CRS requires applicants for a Colorado driver license or identification card to submit proof of age, name and lawful presence, as the department may require. Applicants must present two different documents." It goes on with a revised list of documents. From List A and B, only a fraction of teenagers would have two forms of required identification. Presumeably this was to insure that illegal aliens could NOT obtain any form of Colorado ID, but they made it very difficult for legimate applicants. Colorado went too far in the other direction in my opinion. Gary, that is just messed up. Colorado always seemed to be one of the states whose government was pretty together. Also, FYI, I wasn't trying to flame, I just had a hard time believing what you said, cuz it's just ridiculous.. and I'm thinking "no way!" Ripper teh still moving to CO some day. My kids don't need to drive!
  16. quote: What pisses me off is the added beaurocracy in getting a first-time drivers permit for my US-born daughter of US citizens. Uh, where does it say two forms of ID? Colorado DMV FAQ
  17. quote: Proper context is important in lots of things. Take this discussion, for example. The proper context would be my statement that the God I beleve in would not punish with a disease as non-selective as AIDS. Another poster disagreed with me, pointing out God's distruciton of xxxx and Gomorrah. I counterd by pointing out that God would have spared both cities if there had been but 10 rightous people living in them. Genisis 18 makes that pretty clear. That 10 were not found does not change God's willinness to spare the cities if even that small number of belevers would suffer. Indeed - look at the lengths he went to in saving Lot. xxxx and Gomorrah were not the only cities destroyed by God because of their immorality. And in at least one other instance he did not give these cities the luxury to be spared if they could find righteous among its residents. There were righteous among them, but most of the cities people were corrupt. (My not remembering the name of the city nor it's location in the Old Testament is hurting my argument, I know) God judged the whole city, or culture, as a whole. As even us good guys are responsible for the bad things happening in our culture.. by us not voting, and being passive and not standing up to the people who are doing bad things for our society because it's easier not to do so. As such, my summary is that God can punish with a disease as non-selective as AIDS.

  19. Talking Management into Version X would be much much easier if they add this function. What sucks is that CMS's software has this and we paid a bunch more $ for MC instead. Although I am not complaining one bit, MC is terrific.
  20. Thanks for the ideas all. It's a CMS 5ax mahcine with a 16 pos toolchange magazine. The tool in question is in fact an insert cutter tool, 58 inserts. dia is about 4.5" My other issue with this is, on the table we're gonna have retractable ref. stops to position the parts, and I don't know what the height of the retracted ref stops are yet(machine gets here next week), so I may not be able to do this anyway.
  21. doh! Thanks Jay. It's too bad the software that the router mfr. makes has this option.
  22. We'll be doing alot of straight cuts in wood, and here's the scenario. One of our flat cutters has about 5" height of cut and the edges that we'll be cutting most of the time is 1.75". So, other than drawing a curvy contour under the edge of my stock, is there a setting in MC somewhere to make the tool oscillate up and down along the contour so that the inserts on the tool all get even wear, thus eliminating the possibility of creating ridges when we use the tool to cut taller stock? Ripper teh run-on sentence masta
