This is the chart we always use for thread milling. http://www.trentonpipe.com/ti_threadformdatachart.html
The first 4 rows have all the information about the size of the thread and the pipe that the thread is on.
The 9th row from the left gives us our thread depth and the 2nd to last row gives us our tap drill size.
I also wrote on the paper copy of this sheet that the taper is 1.783333 degrees.
If you want to add a nice chamfer to these holes just add .030" to the diameters in column 2
I've been using this chart for 15 years without a problem.
It would be extremely helpful if Waterline lead in and lead out moves would respect boundary limits. I can't tell you how dangerous this is when a Waterline tool path decides to arc on / off into solid stock, which was not cut out because the Area Clearance tool path was limited by a boundary. The same boundary I'm using for the Waterline tool path I might add. I'd like to be able to rely on these boundaries to limit ALL tool path moves. I know I can control my leads but this should be a feature that's baked into Mastercam. After all, Area Clearance and Dynamic tool paths respect boundary limits. Why can't finishing tool paths. Am I missing a setting somewher? Ok. Rant over.
I take that back. I had to dock both the tool path and the solids manager and then my tabs came back. Now I have them when they are not docked as well. I'll have to remember that one for future reference.
I do not have tabs to switch between Tool path manager and Solids manager. I used to have them but not for the last few weeks. Maybe since I updated to the full release of X9? Is there a setting where I can get my tabs back? I've been fighting with the managers being on top of one another.
Would I have had a display setting checked or unchecked that would not show these? I swear I've never seen these before. Or, maybe I'm just blind and they've been there the entire time
Look at the icons under the geometry for the two tool paths I have expanded. I don't ever remember seeing the icons next to Geometry before. What does that mean?
The closest thing suggested, other than the Nethook was using project manager to post the programs to the same folder location as the Mastercam file. This would require the user to make an "NC Programs" folder at the initial posting but then all the programs would post to that folder. Its very close to what I was looking for. The Nethook is exactly what I'm looking for.
Ok I found where to change it but this seems to be a general setting. What I mean is, All of my programs will go to this location no matter what file I am working on. I'm looking for a way to automatically create an "NC Program" folder in the same location that my Mastercam file is located in. I'm not sure this is even possible. What we had to do with Powermill is create a folder called "NC Programs" and then once we posted, they would automatically go into that folder.
With Surfcam, it automatically created the "NC Program" folder when you posted.
When I post a program, I post it to a drive on our server. The machines then read the program from there. I would like to start posting my programs to a folder where my MC file is saved and then move them to the drive on the server. This way I always have a backup copy of the posted programs. Is there a way to post to a folder automatically? When I used Surfcam it would created a folder for you when you posted and all your programs would go there.
I deleted it and then downloaded it again and it worked. I saved my templates in another folder and once I downloaded X+, I put them back where they belong. Everything is working fine now.
Did you delete the Mastercam Licensing Installer too? It will download a new one with X9. I'm trying to think of little things you might be missing. Did you have Mastercam for Solidworks Installed. I had to delete this and the registry keys for it before installing X9. Hope you figure it out.
Has anyone every wired lead before? We have a customer who wants us to try it. The part is rectangular, about 3" x 1.5" x 1.25". It will have about thirty vertical ribs cut thru the center about .016" thick each. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
