  1. Our CNC lab has 23 seats of mcam (soon to be v9 level 3 w/solids), one Hardinge cobra turning center, one Monoarch VMC w/40 tool changer (BIG), one Cellcon horizontal machining center with B axis, one Harrison 17" CNC lathe, one Miyano twin spindle cnc lathe w/live tooling, two Kryle VMC's (like a fadal), two Bridgeports w/prototrack controllers, one hardinge tool room lathe, one harig surface grinder. Our manual lab has 5 Bridgeports (1 w/prototrack), 5 LeBlond 15" lathes, 3 hydraulic surface grinders, 3 tool and cutter grinders, drill presses, etc. On the weekends, it all becomes "Mike's playground...". I love my job.... Mike R.
  2. Can you use mcam mill to program one, or do you have to have mcam router? Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't know anything about routers (yet). This would just be a toy for home. Thanks!! Mike R.
  3. Hi all! I was wondering, are there any cheap, benchtop cnc routers out there on the market? I'd kinda like to have one at home. When I say cheap, I mean around 3 grand. Thanks!!!!! Mike R.
  4. Yup, poor writing. I meant that I've checked out other cadcam forums, and this is by far the most effective and freindly. Post edited. Mike R.
  5. Hi Stephen! I think the best way to do what you need to do is to Xform, translate,..., between points. Click on where 0,0 IS, then type 0,0, move...yada yada yada. You can accomplish this (like you said) in T/C plane, but I think the purpose of that one is if you're doing 4th axis work and need to "reposition" where 0,0 is for G55, G56, etc. Hope this helps!!!! BTW, what level do you teach? HS, College?? Mike R.
  6. I'd like to be the first (this NEW YEAR) to thank the webbies responsible for this forum for all their hard work and dillegence. Thanks to you from both me and my students!!! Respectfully, Mike R. [ 12-31-2001: Message edited by: Michael Reynolds ]
  7. Thanks Jay! Just emailed my freindly neiborhood (SP) mastercam dealer! Mike R.
  8. Hi Wally! All the P1 is 'sposed to do is to send the turret(s) to a safe indexing position. What the MPLfan post does is output a "G0G91G28Z0" code, which simply tells the machine tool to rapid to machine "home", which is all the way back and all the way up. This is the SAFEST way to index your turret. Especially since you (as a programmer) don't necessarily know how far each tool sticks out. If ya need me to, tomorrow I'll email you an mc8 file complete with code. Let me know!! (also, I understand how it is working with people who don't UNDERASTAND CAM!!!!! PLease let me know. Mike R. 9. Hi Ricky! Where is Shortsville? (My wife says I come from there...) Mike R.
  10. Are there any forum members from Upstate New York??? Mike R.
  11. sooooo, Jay, how did you get it there? My 8.1.1 has a blank spot where your's has the nesting thaaang. ????? Thanks, my west coast pal!! Mike R.
  12. Yup, saw it in my menu, too, but when I tried to use it, got a message that said the dll wasn't found. I emailed deb rossing 'bout it. Mike R.
  13. Hi Wally! Yup we have a cobra 42 (that Hardinge was nice enouph to donate to our school). Actually, I used to work there. I love hardinge!!Wish they were doing better. They have about 70% of their workforce laid off now. Anyway, I just use the mplfan. I've found that thier "safe index" sub doesn't save much time, when your travel is so small. Anyway, sounds like James helped out your situation. I do, however, have a post that one of my industrial freinds altered, if you want it. I just have to find it on my 'puter... Let me know! Mike R.
  14. Hi Jay! Sooo....can it be used in mill? I see it in the v9 menu, but it won't come up. BTW, snowing here. Our neabors in Buffalo got, like 4 feet of snow!!!! C-ya! Mike R.
  15. Hi All (Hope yall's having a great holiday season!). Anyway, has anyone used the nesting c-hook? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks fer yer help! Mike R.
  16. Hi Wally! That wouldn't be a Hardinge lathe yer programming, would it?? Welcome to the forum, BTW!! Mike R.

  19. DH, if you use Cimco edit, you have the option of inserting "white spaces". NC functions, insert, white spaces. hope this helps!!!! Mike R.
  20. Hi All. I have cable modem to my computer downstairs in my house, and I'm trying to connect my wife to it (upstairs). I bought a "Linksys" cable/dsl router, and I'm wondering where the cables get plugged in. Do I unhook my computer from the cable box and connect the cable box to the router, then just plug in both computer cables to the router and hook them up to thier respective computers?? I'm not worried about the software issues now, just how to physically connect the cables.. Thanks for all your help!!!!!!! Mike R.
  21. Yup, gotta RING IN for this one...Get it?? yuck yuck... Happy holidays to all and again, thanks for all of your help this past year. BTW Robby, one of my former students works for GM in Messina NY (Mike Tremper) Thanks again all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike R.
  22. Hi Cadmonster, I've done it with cimco editor. But you have to change a parameter or two in the controler for it to work. I have'nt done it with a monarch, but I have with my cell cons (fanuc controller). I do have a monarch vmc45 with a mark century 2000 controler. What kind of controler are you using?? Let me know how you made out Mike R.
  23. I'm a full time faculty member (assist. prof) at a community college in upstate NY, and when I do "community education", or non credit type stuff I get at LEAST $45./hr. Sounds like alot, but you put in alot of time preping. Hope that helps Mike R.
  24. Sooooo, are you saying we solved your problem, or are you still experiencing difficualy? Mike R.
  25. That's sweet James!
