Have any of you had any experience with this type of CNC? We recently had one donated to us, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me with it.
Thanks all!!!!

Try looking for this line in your post and change to "0"
# Rotary Axis Settings
# --------------------------------------------------------------------------
vmc : 1#0 = Horizontal Machine, 1 = Vertical Mill
Hope this helps!

The easiest way is to check and go into the "canned text" box in the tool paramerer page (BLD on)
As for the choice of editors, I like the cimco editor.
Hope this helps!

Having read the last few threads, I think I'll wait for V9.1 to come out...(although V9 has some GREAT new enhancements!!!)
BTW, it'd be nice to see the graphical post builder we've been hearing about.

Hi there!
I asked a similar question a while back, and the response I got was overwhelmingly "this is not masterCAD". But I'd like to see more advancement on the cad side too...
JMHO,
Mike R.
Thanks Eric!
That worked, but the dimension's are actually touching the lines. Is there a way to make the "basic dimension" box larger than the text size?
Thanks!!!!!

Hi Ernie!
I'm using w98se, running 8.1.1.
The text size seems to be ok, but
the boxes their in are way too long,
and the text & symbols go above them.
Thanks for your help!!!
Mike R.
I've been looking for something like that! One thing though, I downloaded it and tried it. A problem I'm having is that the feature control frames come in disporportionate to the text size, and way too long. Am I doin' something wrong?
Thanks!

Hi Ricky!
We have 2 MX2's, and I was under the impression that you had to buy an add on to MX2's in order communicate from a pc to them. Am I wrong?? If I am, let me know soos I can download too!
Thanks!!

I'm not much of a computer hardware guy, but alfha processors don't support windows. I think they only support Unix platforms. I'm sure others can explain this better than I!
C-ya!

My college is exploring software to replace Unigraphics (cuz after release 17 UG will no longer support alfa processers). My co horts are looking into Solid Works, and I personally think this is a mistake. I don't support using mastercam for this program becuase of the modeling restrictions (ie, assemblies). I think Pro E would be a good bet, and think that Solid Works is more of a lower end software than say Pro E,Mechanical desktop, or Catia.
What do you all think???
(Mcam would be the "cam" part)
Thanks for your input (my boss will be monitoring this!!!!)

Hi Jay!
I think the answer to your question depends on your audiance. For example, if you're teaching a class full of experianced machinists and/or programmers, I think it's possible. BUT, if you're class is diverse, in that you have a mix of the above and people who are novices to programming, I think you'd have a hard time of it.
I teach a 3 credit hour class (2 lec, 3 lab hours/pweek, 15 weeks) that pretty much covers ALL 2D/3D constructions and toolpaths (excluding surfacing & solids) that is about right. BUT during the last 5 weeks, we cut the parts out.
IF your group is transitioning from another cam program, I think you'd have a shot at it, otherwise, I think it would be week education (absolutely no offense intended).
BTW, had a hard week. Watched my step dad die of cancer. Bad week.
Thanks and I hope this helps!

Hi All!
If I want mastercam to spit out a drilling cycle without
using a cycle (g81/83 etc), how would I do it? In other
words, I want mcam to write the program long hand cuz
I have a machine that doesn't recognize canned cycles.
Thanks all!

Thanks all! What worked for me was breaking the lines in the rectangle so that the start of the arc (chain) and the start of the rectangle (chain) were at the same angle (Thanks Marc!). Thanks again all, this is a great resource!
