  1. James, are you saying you've been "lost in space"?! Mike R.
  2. Charlie, I used to get that message when trying to get a c hook (easy draw) to work. It only came up when I was trying to import drafting notes.... I don't have an answer, but it has to do with the drafting entities... Sorry I couldn't help.. Mike R.
  3. Hi Bertau! The open house went ok, most of machines were set up and running. I had our Hardinge cobra lathe running salt & pepper shakers, our Monarch running a hair dryer boss, had our cell con horizontal ALMOST set up to run Cadcam's car, but didn't have the time or the nerves to run drip feed for the first time in front of LOTS of people. Ran keychains (the one on the ftp site) on one of our Kryle VMC's, and last but not least, had tensile strength test bars set up & running on our Miyano twin spindle. I'll add a link to our schools web page so you can check out our labs, n stuff. I was just there myself, and wasn't impressed with the page. Anyway, THANK YOU ALL for all your help! Especailly Cadcam, for all he did. (I plan on running that car sometime this week, by the way...) http://mpt.corning-cc.edu/ Thanks again, Mike R.
  4. Wallace, are you talking about setting the color of the rapid lines the same as the graphics background color (making the rapid lines invisable)? Good thinkin'! Mike R.
  5. Hi Gstephens! I just finished doing the create, drafting, multi thing to manually scale the dimensions, but is the reason they did not automatically change when I scaled the geometry because I didn't have my globals set right? the box that said "associate sompin" in the globals parameters WAS NOT set. Thanks for the info!! Mike R.
  6. I'm trying to scale a part that has dimensions -n- drafting notes to 3/4 of it's original size. I want the dimensions to automatically update. Thanks if advance for your expert opinions! Mike R.
  7. I agree, a chrome moly mat'l is probably the best. Good shock resistance and can be heat treated to 40 to 50 Rc. I think you need to check with your insert dealer as to the clearance and rake angles of the inserts you buy, though. I'd guess that you'd want about 4 to 5 degrees clearance angle on your inserts. That's the key...even if I'm wrong about the angles, it sounds like the inserts are what's giving you the problem, not the holder. (If (and don't take this wrong) your speeds and feeds are right).. Good luck!! Mike R. [ 08-05-2001: Message edited by: Michael Reynolds ]
  8. Hi James! I'm not sure what we were using. I know I use VNC viewer to run my unix system at work on my home pc, but this wasn't vnc. If it was pc anywhere, is it expensive? another thing, I don't have pc anywhere on my 'puter, so if I got it, could I control someone else's computer without them having it on thier system? Also, could it have been Net Meeting? Thanks you Mastercam Enthusiest, you... Mike R.
  9. Ya Jay, thanks fer all your efforts. And thanks for the help last night, it was great to talk to you. By the by, what did you say the name of that "computer takover" software is? Are you a dealer? Where would I get it? Am I asking too many questions? Thanks again, Jay! Mike R.
  10. Thanks cycletimes! Worked... I'm another satisfied customer... Thanks again, Mike R.
  11. "K", what's your number? (327meg ram, allocations (total) set to 210) Thanks Jay! Mike R. [ 08-03-2001: Message edited by: Michael Reynolds ]
  12. I'm trying to do usable toolpaths for the "car-I" model for our openhouse COMING UP THIS SUNDAY, and I'm getting a message that says "error allocating memory" or something. Granted, I'm NOT an expert on surface toolpaths, but I really need help getting the nc program for this one. I'd like to use a 1/2" carbide 4 flute EM for a rouph path, a 1/2" ball (carbide) EM for the finish path, and the same 1/2" EM for profiling the perimiter of the thing. I'm pretty sure that the file is still on the FTP site, so any help would be VERY appreciated... The first person that sends the usable file (mpfanpst) gets the keychain from the open house mailed to them..... Thanks for all your help!!!!!!!!
  13. When I output a threading cycle using G32, the post spits out an "E" instead of an "F" for the feed rate. What line do I need to alter? Thanks all!!!! Mike R.
  14. I got a cd from mastercam that was 8.1.1. Does this post work, or do I still need the patch? Thanks all! Mike R.
  15. Hi Jay! I'll TRY to ftp the file to your site, but if you email me your address, I'll send you one. By the way, did you do a toolpath on that face? if you did, was the program under 45K long? If it was, could you send me the program? I've twied and twied, but I still come up with a HUGE program. (mpezpost) thanks Jay, you da man! Mike R.
  16. I get really good results with a small center drill, and you can feed much faster than (I think) you can with an engraving tool. Of course, I've never used an engraving tool, so I might be wrong... But I just (today) finished making 150 keychains for an open house we're having on Sunday, and used a #00 coated carbide center drill, 5500 rpm's, 20ipm, and all was right with the world. How ya doin' Mark!!!!!!!!! Call me, will ya? Mike R. [ 08-02-2001: Message edited by: Michael Reynolds ]
  17. You guys ROCK! I had no idea what was behind the "file" thing. Worked like a charm. Thanks again all!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike R.
  18. Hi all...I'm having trouble finding a true type font that only draws a single profile for the letter, as opposed to double sided letters. Kinda like create, next menu, letters, drafting. But the letters have to be on an arc, and I don't think that's possible. Help!!! Mike R.
  19. I'd guess around 150 smf to start. Mike R.
  20. Just a quick question here. Are we required to log out, or can we just X out when we're done. You would think I'd be used to asking stupid questions by now, however..... Thanks! Mike R. (By the way, nice link, Jay! LOL)
  21. That's the ticket! Worked like a charm. Thanks fer da help all!!!! Mike R.
  22. Where would I find those options? Thanks! Mike R.
  23. I just reloaded 8.1.1, and now my chooks are gone!!.....Does anyone know where they might have run off to?? Thanks all! Mike R.
  24. Hi James! I don't have a clue. One of the ET prof's made it work somehow. But I tell ya, I made a back up disk but quick!!!!! Mike R.
