  1. This was very helpful, thank you. I am now trying to incorporate this into the larger part. It is a much larger undercut so many multi passes will be necessary. Is there a way to force the path the start from the top if i need it to?
  2. Sorry, level 1 had a model that had a feature missing so here is the updated zip. MULTI-UNDERCUT.ZIP
  3. Hello, I am looking for a way to rough out stock in an undercut situation using multi axis but also using stock recognition. Attached is the simplified MC file that I am working on. This is going to be run on an Integrex i300. When the file gets opened you can see the real part that I need to make on "level 1". "level 2" has the model I need (+.01" everywhere) prior to finish turning the inside. I've been messing around with this for some time now and I've gotten close as you can see in the toolpaths and stock "model 2" but i want to believe there is a much better way to do this. I am afraid of tool burial approaching the way i have it programmed now. "Stock Model 1", on level 3, is roughly what the stock will look like before I start cutting the undercut. Straight walls all the way to the bottom on the part. I scaled down the part to do some test cuts on aluminum first so that's why levels 3998-4001 have smaller geometry. The real part is copper so that's why I am milling and not turning. Is there a way to use multi axis toolpaths while using stock recognition on a feature like this? I want it to start at the straight walls and work its way in to the angled walls while not colliding with things (obviously). The real part will be using Tool #3 (1"ball em). With only .800 of flute so I will need to take depth cuts down to the floor. Note that i dont have to use the ball too the entire length. I can use multiple tools including bull end mills( T#1) if it makes things easier in the top section of the ID of the part. Any and all help is appreciated. Let me know if I left anything important out that you need to know. MULTI-AXIS.pdf MULTI-UNDERCUT.ZIP
  4. Hello mcam world, 1. For a while now I have been wanting to create a custom active report or tool list. Preferably using the right click "Tool List" option when in the operations manager. Attached is the format i would like to use as to keep things familiar to everyone at our shop. Looking at the format attached, do you think it's possible to create this? i'm not asking you to do it for me (unless you really want to mess with it) ,I'm just wondering if that's too specific for mastercam. 2. Is it even possible to change what template Mastercam uses in that right click option? It currently sorts the tools is order of use and not in sequential order. If i am just wanting to whip out a quick tool list I use this option. Setup sheets I use the "Setup Sheet" button under the "machine" Tab. 3. If it is possible to use this new format, can i then link it to the setup sheet button for an active report? I don't need tool holders displayed on the new list, i just want the basic info. Thanks for any and all info related TOOLLIST-BLANK.docx
  5. Hello, Does anyone have any suggestions for tooling manufacturers of Capto C6 holders? I've been buying Sandvik but they are limited with Inch options. What i am looking for are different gauge lengths of simple solid holders (weldon). Sandvik goes down to 3/8 but i need 1/4 and with more than 2.3" gauge length. Thanks for any input.
  6. Hello world, Does Mastercam have a tool that allows you to arrange arbitrary entity shapes automatically within a boundary ( machine travel drawn as wireframe ) so i don't have to transform them individually? Thanks for your input
  7. Update! I ended up converting it in the other software and all looks good. Thanks for all the replies!
  8. I am not able to Upload anything due to ITAR otherwise I would. Thanks for the offer though. We do have a software we are supposed to use that Checks the saved Mastercam model to the Native customer with a set tolerance and it states whether it passes or fails. In this current state it would fail with flying colors.
  9. I never get a prompt to do anything it just goes straight into loading it. Leon82 I know what you're talking about and for some reason that prompt doesn't show up. I do see it from time to time though.
  10. Model prep didn't work. it tried for an hour before crashing.
  11. I am having an issue when opening a customer model. I import models the same way every time and have for years. The issue with this part is that when i import the ".stp" file it meshes all entities together as one (thread inserts) and seems to add a whole bunch of O-ring looking features. The O-rings, when i hover over, they highlight as if they are their own entity but when i click it the entire part selects. I would upload the file for you to try but i can't due to ITAR. If i bring the model in as surfaces only, the part looks perfect with no additional "O-Rings". When the surfaces are made there are about 30k of them. Any ideas on why surfaces work but not solids? Thanks for any input
  12. Our MCX files are stored on a network that's shared between Colorado and Wyoming. At certain times during the day the Colorado server is slow for us up here in Wyoming. So i cleared the list an only loaded MCX files stored on the Wyoming server and now its super speedy. Thanks for the tip. Life is great again! Its the little things ya'll.
  13. I didn't mean to post that again. I went to start a new topic and it defaulted to my last post for some reason and i didn't catch it.
  14. Hello In 2019 i have noticed that when i use the "Recent Documents" tab, it takes a solid 10 seconds to populate the field. Any thoughts as to why it takes so long? 2018 does this as well.
  15. Yes! All replies have been very helpful. Thank you for all the input. It seem to be a redundant path at this stage then unless you want to pick out corners. Not a good floor finisher. Ok, ill just stick to the old way. Thanlk you all very much. This forum rocks!
  16. I tried messing with the "Contour Wall" tab and the "Stock thickness" but didn't have any luck. There can be an advantage though. It can be up to three toolpaths in one. Generally, one to rough, one to finish floors up to the walls and one to finish walls. Pocket will do all those but who wants "pocket" anymore? This instance it's just 6061 aluminum and milling .400 deep pockets. I use an endmill with a wiper on one flute so i can finish floors at speed around 200ipm with near Ra 16 finishes. So what I have been doing is make a Dynamic Mill path but stay away from the walls .01-.02 but have a depth cut finish pass of .002-.005 so the floors are finished in one path. The problem then comes in where i have to create a second path to finish the walls. I thought "Dynamic Contour" was the solution? Another toolpath is that much more clicking. I saw it as the new "Pocket" toolpath since it has a "finising" tab in the tree but again it does'nt allow you to control the entry motion like "dynamic mill" or "pocket" Old school pocket gives you all the control you need its just conventional is all. What do you think?
  17. Has anyone noticed that in the "Dynamic Contour" toolpath there is no option for "entry motion"? This feature is in " Dynamic Mill" but not in contour. When i go to use it for finishing both floors and walls after Opti Rough has gone through, it is helical entering .26 above the stock. I've played with "inc /abs depths" but can't get it. Is there a reason for this? Thanks in advance
  18. I am currently tapping titanium and am having huge success! I am using Emuge's D-Ti taps. The 1/4-20 cut tap has currently cut 240 holes and still looks great. 80rpm is all but it's one pass (no peck tapping). Using Blaser's "Blaso-Tap" which is really thick like honey . They recommended i didn't use molly based oils with these taps but we do use it with other brands in Ti. Not sure they have the the 2mm but just consider these in the future. Price does matter in this case. Spend an extra $20 now, or whatever it is, or an hour of machine time trying to dig it out. Best of luck. Post Script, Use tooling manufacturers applications department rather than always referencing their book. They, a lot of times, have personal experience which can help in sticky situations plus you might ask about a specific tool but they have a better one in mind.
  19. Turns out that i just needed to use "verify options" to define my stock. I never use that tab except for fixtures. I was using "stock setup" in the machine group. Praise the Good Lord for eMastercam. I have just been using "stock model" for verifying but that seems to cut through the part anytime i have a rotation so really i'm hoping i didn't miss something when i go to post. It's all been great so far. I am using the latest 2017. On another note, has anyone had postability add G68.2 (Inclined-plane machining ON)? It allows me to set planes anywhere on the part when programming so that while programming my numbers make sense, such as cut depths, then the post shifts XYZ and any rotations needed (from WCS) so when an operator is looking through the code it also makes sense. Example: This drill at this arbitrary angled face is going to cut into that surface -1.0 and not 6.9328. It's nice if it works. I did add this but when I go to post, it tilts everything fine but the xyz do not match what it needs to be. That being said, it scrapped my first part. .200 off. Anyone else have this problem? Can't seem to get answers from postability, mastercam, mazak, mastercam distributor. If i need to start a new thread then let me know. Thank everyone
  20. So my shop has recently bought a Mazak Integrex, so with that we purchased a lathe seat. The post/ machine def/control def are lathe and not mill. The first part I programmed was all mill work, so i was needing the verify to display as a mill stock def and not a round lathe def. I was able to select a model (looks kinda like a boomerang) as the initial stock but when i pulled it up in verify to check for collisions it was not ,it displays my part as round and not what i actually need. What can i do, if anything? Thanks in advance
  21. So i did see the file but bringing it over didn't do anything. I looked in the "Options" page to see if i could go look for it but no luck. Any other thoughts?
  22. Hello world, I installed 2018 on Friday and am having a tough time figuring out how to move the "custom" keyboard shortcuts over. Is there a way or am I going to have to set it all up again on every release? I was under the impression that Mcam doesn't use the ".kmp" file anymore to move over, but i don't know for sure. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
  23. Here is a ZIP-2-GO. I gutted the real file due to ITAR. See what you can find. Thanks again MULTI-AXIS-ROUGH.ZIP
  24. Yup it was selected. I tried it without selecting but it prompted me so i tried by selecting one.
