  1. Standing desk? Or the super monster laydown desk? We have sit/stand combo desks in my office. I like them alot...programmable and all. I lately its been 75% sitting cuz winter IDK, im lazy. But its really nice to have to run to the machine and back to my desk and not sit down for a quick CAM change or something.
  2. I use a logitech proteus g502 mouse for programming and it has several programmable macro buttons that I have customized in Mastercam. You can customize your mouse to do the things you suggest. For example my mouse buttons can do Iso View and Fit. Which is exactly what you want.... Saying you're too uncoordinated for a space mouse is a cop out. Its not that hard to learn and it also has programmable macros. I have the basic space mouse but the Enterprise or elite one has a ton of customizable hot keys. Also there are regular mice that have like 15 programmable buttons you can buy. It has nothing to do with mastercam, it has everything to do with your attitude and lack of willingness to try....
  3. Hi all, This is a small thing but proves to be ultra annoying. The tool filter is always set to active when I go to grab a tool. Any way to set that to default off? Thanks
  4. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this cuz I asked a similar question about comping 5 axis toolpaths several years ago, and the answer i got is that Cutter Comp doesn't work on multiaxis the way you think it does like with 3 axis work, so I dropped it. At least on my multiaxis post, I haven't ever used or seen G41.2 and Im not sure I would need to...most of the comping that I would do on a multiaxis toolpath would be done in the parameters by removing stock from drive surfaces and containment boundaries etc etc... So are you telling me that I can setup my post to output G41.2 and use it with misc values to do Wear Compensation at the control??? Because that would be nice if it is "easy" to do.
  5. Create a network drive for your CNC machines
  6. Oh boy this looks tasty! Half of my trouble with multiaxis is choosing the right method. Im also glad they added the ability to manipulate the graphics window from within the toolpath parameters. Im just guessing here that Mastercam is using and blending ModuleWorks packages to create this new "Unified" toolpath approach?
  7. So how do you actually save/create the one you want to save?
  8. Hey, For some reason when I opened Mastercam today, it got rid of all of my user preferences under Options and my customized ribbon was gone. Is there a way to save those settings and import them so that I don't have to go back and manually change everything when I upgrade or something like this happens? I am familiar with Configuration files of course but I wasn't sure about these specifically. Thanks
  9. That was what I was going to ask...how do you go about creating those? I’ve created vectors from backplot but that’s it. also, are the big long orange lines your entry chains/vectors for 5 axis linking? EDIT: I’m guessing yes based on the description.
  10. I have tried doing similar things in the past to control the vectors....can you post a picture of an example of "drawing control vectors" just so I can see what you mean when you say that....a little visual aid always helps. Thanks
  11. This is great because Ive been trying to do an impeller without blade expert for our workshop for awhile now.
  12. Found it, thank you! It should be noted that you need to go to the document properties in windows explorer and check the box that says "unblock" to open the doc properly
  13. In my years of programming mastercam I have found the solution for tools is baking the feeds and speeds directly into the tool definition and manually overriding them for specific applications if necessary. I assume others here are have a smarter way but that seems to be the most consistent for us. I'd love to hear how others approach this topic with feeds and speeds. I do have some feed/speed chooks but that is more set and forget and the tool def level.
  14. Does someone have the most recent ModuleWorks help file available to share? Can't seem to find it here. Thanks Cameron
  15. Thanks @motor-vater! I knew there was a way that I used to do it. In the mean time I was merging separate tool libraries in the Vericut Tool Manager. CHeers
  16. Sorry for the slightly off topic post. I am trying to output my tooling list to VERICUT using the interface in Mastercam...however Vericut breaks up my tool list by TOOLPATH GROUP...which is really annoying. So in vericut I need to use a new setup for each toolpath group, which just aint gonna happen. Any easy way around this to force Mastercam to output the whole tool library in a single .TLS file? Thanks
  17. I have asked this once before but maybe things have changed. I'm working on a tool library. Is there a way to merge libraries so that I don't have to create 100+ drill sizes? Merge or something like that. If not I will just still switch between libraries. : (
  18. As I am not a software dev I honestly have no idea so you might be correct. It is a big program already yes but for actions taken in the Gwindow like divide/delete etc.
  19. This week I am working on a complex part that is a scaled down version of a part I have made in the past. I needed to reprogram the thing from scratch and there are some complex surfaces that I had generated on the original part that I need to generate on the smaller one. I know I know, I can just scale it down like I did to the solid model. However, I was just curious about something. In a program like Adobe Photoshop, the programmer has the complete "action history" or "history tree" at his or her disposal, which means they can pick a specific action and revert the history of the photo to that point. Obviously Solidworks has a similar thing with the feature tree. Can you guys see a benefit to having something like this in Mastercam? I think it would be kind of a good addition to be able to see all the actions that have been taken in the graphics window, for example if a new employee is looking at a program and wants to know what the previous programmer may have done as far as wireframe or surface generation. Unless I am totally ignorant, I don't think this is a thing in Mastercam. Thoughts? -CM
  20. Well when I get the updated post back from my reseller i will try to break it...and see how useful it is.
  21. Hey all, I am currently having my post from Postability updated to output correct code for the Multiaxis Drill output (it wasn't outputting in vectors). I messed around with it a bit and it looks like a huge time saver for doing multaxis drilling. Am I correct in assuming that? It is alot faster than creating planes and doing it the old school way. Any bugs? Thanks.
  22. Mainly because I have to...i explained my situation in the OP and my current laptop is running low low end GeForce graphics so it is kind of laughable to try and have my normal workflow. Its either "have a really terrible laggy awful workflow that will prob crash" VS "solid, reliable, smooth workflow that is rock solid, minus the 3D mouse capability". I also can't run Vericut locally on my machine here because we have it setup on a license server at work and the only way to access it is VPN. Such is my situation The good news is that my job is considering high power laptops in the $3K range (quadro) for all staff that require them. So that's something. Itll take forever to get that if/when it happens. Thanks
