  1. Is this a problem from within Mastercam, or do other applications have the same effect when printing to the 1020? Bill
  2. Try the cut depths on the "rough parameters" tab. I think you can accomplish this in there.. Bill
  3. I have, in my distant past, used methylene chloride to vapor polish polycarb. Boil it and hold the part over it. It works pretty well...The room has to be well ventilated and also, we did this in a box similar to a sand blast cabinet. Toxic to be sure. I would probably not do this again. Young and dumb.- go figure. Also, I have had success in conventional milling the last profile passes (finish). Drilling...Ah...Slow spindle and high feedrates,..Plenty of chip clearance once retracting from the hole. I have heard of, but not tried to use Ronson lighter fluid? I think that is the stuff...I won't actually vouch for it...But have read that somewhere before.. Bill
  4. If I knew the job market for a good 'chinist was going to be this grim, I probably would have packed me crap and headed out to greener pastures. The jobs in this state don't really pay all that well, but the cost of living is what keeps most of us here. Bill [ 10-27-2006, 04:59 PM: Message edited by: bhyde ]
  5. I recently bought the 2405FPW and it is amazing! Love that monitor...But, I have seen it drop in price as low as $779.00 shipped with online coupons you can get anywhere...I think these will drop a bit more to get rid of the inventories and to usher in the new products. 24 inches of desk saving LCD! Niiice
  6. Jay I'll kick down some money...Good entertainment and the knowledge gained is good as well... I have learned alot and I am sure that more will follow..
  7. Ahhh....Summer vacation ended a week ago . I took a camping trip to the panhandle of Idaho and camped wit da bears.. Beautiful country...I didnt realize that at one time, there was a naval base in Idaho..During the 40's...Amazing...Lived here all my life and never knew that!...I will be back next year...Maybe a trip to Canada would be in order too.
  8. Thad, I think REKD is modifying MC to put the cream and sugar in his coffee...Maybe even has the ability to add coke to his Rum...
  9. Herbert, Nope, I dont make anything for sale here...Company I work for makes enough products without me adding to it..But I am allowed a g job now and then...Just as long as I dont sell it..
  10. Ok....File uploaded.. it is located here...Not sure if this is the appropriate spot, but I am sure I will find out if it isnt! ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/Fi...onverted_to_MC/

  14. Last job I had this was a huge issue. Current job, everyone is responsible for their own programs and running their own messes. Uh...well...all except one...He is TOO busy to learn MasterCam. I get to program his parts...One time I made him a program, he hit the go button on a drill and walked away. Then blames me for scrapping the part.. My response...You can always do your OWN programming. I have enuff to do without your added overhead. Nice to be able to say that!
  15. 1000? Uh...Yeah...congrats and +1 for me too
  16. PC games YEAH!.. Been awhile...Last weekend, felt a little nastalgia come on...Installed Q3..then tried to install Unreal..The first one...To my dissapointment...My disk is bad . After several hours of polishing with buffing compound...very fine stuff...Still wont work...Oh well...Makes a nice tree ornament...Was a fun game when it would install..Played all of the DOOM series...All the Quake series..a few others...Half Life was pretty good...Waiting for the next revolution in games now...Spiffy new home system 3.2ghz,360gb HD's (SATA), 2gb PC3200 ram,128mb Radeon 9800 Pro...
  17. Doom? Time flies when you are having fun eh? I remember playing that game in all incarnations at work on the network...Henry Weinhards Ale and alot of drunks playing multiplayer games. ALOT of fun! Guess the next "big" thing I am looking forward too is DOOM III. That game looks awesome! Bill
  18. Im going to have to go somewhere else for me tacos? This is a little more encouraging than all the info that I have read on this nasty stuff. But at least its not as bad as one of my other favorite materials! KOVAR....Love that stuff! Thanks alot Greg and Harry! Oh...Gotta love the fact that I am slowly but surely getting my post count up Maybe one of these days I can have an avatar too! Bill
  19. Thanks Greg! These values are a good starting point to an already stressfull situation! Arrrg, I can see many nights spent in my second home due to this job! Thanks again! Bill
  20. Good Morning! Ok, so I have a rather extensive Titanium job that I have to have complete in about 3 months. Problem, the amount of titanium that I have run I can count on one hand and it generally has been a simple lathe job such as a bushing of some sort. The job that I now have to do is about 100k worth of titanium material alone! Mostly mill work, the lathe work is screws that will be made on a screw machine outside our shop due to the fact that NC Lathes are not available where I work. The information that I am after is feeds/speeds, special cutters be it mill, drills, and taps. Most of the work if flat work with some fairly tight tolerances between holes/bosses. But unfortunately, the part starts out as plate stock .375 thick and finishes at .265 to the bosses and the body is .187 thick after the 4 bosses are cleared off. (one part and informed the engineer that the bosses would have been cheaper to make as separate parts and pressed in as opposed to making from one solid piece of titanium). So, I am thinking after all this milling, I am going to have a nice titanium taco which will blow the tolerance between the bosses +.0006 minus .0000. NIIIIIICE....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks! Bill
  21. Notta problem, Had this problem before and wanted to take care of it asap. Hope this is of use to everyone!
  22. Heh, apparently I am a little late on this post, but for some it will be some very good information. A few weeks ago I had all sorts of interesting activity on my home pc. This is strange because I am usually VERY wary on anything that is going on. I researched it on another pc while I disconnected the suspected machine from my wireless lan. Turns out, I had a variant of a trojan called subseven or sub7. VERY nasty, if you research it, it can do everything except change the toilet paper roll (like most men anyhow). My antivirus didnt catch it, but my firewall sniveled a little about it, which is why I was suspicious in the first place. I downloaded what I believe to be a very good program and have recommended most of my friends to install it. So far, most of them had a worm of one variant to another that it has caught. This is the reason for the post as I believe that some can get some use out of this as I did. Hopefully, not before its too late Swatit.org Peace and HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!
  23. Interesting thread..Good to know what everyones background is in as far as cam packages. Learned CAM on Gibbs, Virtual Gibbs...IMHO..Still isnt bad software. Impact CAM...for wire EDM(TOTAL CRAP)<----Not much better than BOBCAD, and only played with Bobcad a limited amount. Cimitron V10...VERY POWERFULL..And then finally MasterCam since 2000. Had a few bumps and bruises, but overall been kinda nice..
  24. Thanks Scott! Dont get a chance to post very often...Especially at work. I do at times check out the threads and learned a tremendous amount about Mastercam as well as the individual contributors. This brings me to my next statement...Thanks to all that have unknowingly helped me in the past!! Oh yeah, I REALLY need to thank Jay, on one occasion, he has called me and helped me not knowing me from adam. This actually tells me the calibur of people that are in the profession. THANKS AGAIN ALL!! Even the most mundane person can teach you something if you are willing to stop and listen
  25. Rekd, LOL...I can see that you cannot stand to lose that kind of weight! Oh well...My life has changed in a rather unique way because of it....ITS ALL GOOD...
