I have had the best luck defining button shellmills as "Slot Mill" and then putting the diameter of the button for flute height, corner radius of 1/2 button diameter. However, toolpath generation takes a LOT longer than calling it a bull mill. The geometry of some of our parts requires the cutter to be able to cut slightly on the backside of the button, and bull mill does not give an accurate result in these areas.
No problem with you or anyone specific. I just don't quite understand that attitude about jobs. I have only worked in this one shop, and it has been good to me. I can't walk out of here and replace the wages or benefits that easily. Maybe if I had moved around I would see things differently.
I have read all the threads about Vista as they came up, and just did a search like suggested. I can't find anything less vague than "should" and "probably". Has anyone tried a side by side comparison of X2 with a Quadro card on XP and Vista?
Not to stick up for Stork or anything, but I believe it is just a poor design. We have a Cat50 that was successfully welded like Doug said, and a few 40s that are still broken. I don't know the exact amount, but the arms are very pricey - to the extent that we have never justified it. Stork's workaround is a very good one.

Ideally what I would like to see is some kind of benchmarking standard for mastercam, so users can compare configurations & see what is best. This sounds like an excellent idea.
This is starting to drive me nuts. I did a format to clean up my PC right before Christmas. I backed up all of my Machine & Control Defs, Posts, etc. However, I forgot the op defaults. On the new install I reset them all how I had them, and have checked numerous times to make sure they have stuck. All appears normal. But when I start a new file, the coolant is set to off for the 1st operation of any type. Any ideas??
The only levels that I get with no entities are from levels in the original dwg that have a name, but no entities. In my level manager they will be named, but with zero entities.
I have flood coolant set to on in my operation defaults, but when I create a toolpath it comes up as off. I can't figure out why. I have double and triple checked my op default settings, and it is set there, but still doesn't come on. Any suggestions? Running X2.
My system has a spot for a 2nd processor, and I might be able to justify it to the boss - but might, or should, won't cut it. Has anyone added one and seen a significant speed increase in Mastercam?
