if you can talk the owner into it, get the tool changer it is very nice. many times i could touch off all my electrodes just before i went home and have a finished mold when i came in the next morning
sorry i couldn't help more
gave all my notes and books to the guy that replaced me, but i remember doing what your asking right at the control. why cant you touch all your electodes off before starting the program
sorry, just got back. what year is your machine? do they still have fap proraming on them? i took the mits class in 2001, but they were talking about getting rid of FAP progamming, i know you could do it in that.
i ran the same controller a few years ago so i may be a bit fuzzy myself. do they not have the time in edm dept. or are you just seeing if it can be done?
i think it can be done but you would have to edit alot at the contoller.
are you burning at an angle, rotating c axis as it burns, or just different positions?
thanks james, not looking for specifics, its just that the forging industry gets looked over alot of the time. not many forge die shops using mastercam, and the mold shops get more imput.
Draft and radi are my biggist problems.
dont get me wrong you guys are great, most of the time i figure it out myself and you help with the rest, just seeing what kind of impute Mastercam is getting

using Pro-e now and have played with solidworks in the past. pro is very powerfull and suprises me with what it can do every day, but it is a very user-hostile programe. solidworks is much more user friendly. if you have alot of learning time i would go with pro, if not stick with solidworks. btw, the nc side of pro-e sucks bad
I thought your reply was very nice Millman, i don't understand why all these first posters go off like they do, I know im new here (with alot to learn) but you all seem to try to help with all my questions and i am truly gratefull.
