  1. Oh wow, that's really nice. Thank you!! That's new to 2024? Or just a trick I've been missing out on?
  2. With the new verify options in MC2024, its says you can use a stock model, and it will create a mesh and use that for your stock for simulation. I used to often use a stock model, so I didn't have to run through all of the toolpaths in verify. It doesn't seem to be working though. I choose the stock model, but there's still no entities in my stock panel. What am I doing wrong?
  3. I'll check this out tomorrow. I also realized I don't have the newest update, and something is up with our maintenance. Showing expired even though it shouldn't be. Hopefully an update fixes it.
  4. A coworker built a holder using the exact same model and it worked fine. So it has to be something wrong with my install.
  5. MY mistake, that IS how I've been doing it. In the internal tool manager, then creating a new holder. Because I was wanting to build them separate from an assembly. Doesn't work either way. For now I'm building them in 2023, and I'll just have to import them I guess.
  6. I'm doing it inside of the toolpath parameters, then creating a holder, and choosing to "use geometry from a file" I used those same files, and they made a holder just fine in 2023. Maybe I have a setting wrong or something.
  7. I've downloaded multiple tools and holders today. From Pioneer, schunk, lyndex, and made a few tools myself, and I can't get any of them to work.
  8. CAT50-SX16-0413.stp 10MM GOLD TWIST PILOT.STEP
  9. I just upgraded to MC2024 and seem to be having issues building tools and toolholders from step files. I'm doing it exactly the way I always have. Orienting them so that the origin is at the tip of the tool, with Z facing into the spindle, and every time I get this message. What am I doing wrong?
  10. Cimco NC Base was one of the options I saw. Do you like what you see of the software so far? I know Predator offers Predator PDM, but truth be told, I've never been thrilled with any of predator's software.
  11. What do you guys use for managing NC Files? We have about 40 machines. A good number of our programs will run on an OKK VMC one day, and maybe a Matsuura HMC the next time, so some programs have multiple versions for different machines. We want to be able to store a fresh version of the program, and be able to distribute it to the machines when necessary. We use Predator for DNC communication to the machines.
  12. Hey James, would you mind sending me that information as well?
  13. James, do you know of any literature, or forum posts, where the differences between all of the different options is explained, including where/when they should be used? Matsuura's options are great, and easy to understand, But I've never totally understood the where/why/when of G08, G05P10000, G05.1, etc etc.
  14. Sounds like your mastercam file isn't set up right. If you touched off at the face of the part, called that 0 and it's making a cut at Z0, it'll do exactly what you're describing.
  15. Yup, I did a spring pass and everything looks good. Operator ran the parts out over the weekend.
  16. Great results with those cutting parameters Ron. I dropped the SFM a little bit to eliminate some of the visual "noise", but otherwise it looks great. Thank you.
  17. I have done that before, and yes, it definitely HELPED. Didn't eliminate, but made a bad situation better, lol.
  18. Makes me feel better knowing it's not just me.
  19. Thanks. I've been trying to leave more material, because recently I've been told I'm not leaving enough for finish passes, but maybe in this case, with the length, it just doesn't apply. In regards to using a stub flute. Any tricks to eliminating the steps on the walls?
  20. It's finishing a long steep wall, with some 3mm radii. I do have a stub flute tool (1.5 reach, .234 flute length) , however, I have never had much luck getting a good finish without showing the stepdowns. Though, I am not against the idea. Edit - Oh, and I am leaving .005 on the walls.
  21. Do you guys use HSM Advisor for finishing? How do you usually tweak the sliders to get a good baseline for finishing? Mine always seems to be way off if I'm using the "tips" they give you when hovering the mouse. For instance, I have a 3/16 endmill, 1.375" flute length, in 6061, and it's suggesting max RPM. I'd bet my 401k that that's gonna chatter like a banshee.
  22. I believe, as long as it is Macro-B capable
  23. I've been setting all of our HMC's up with this. Very useful, like a poor man's DWO. One of the biggest benefits, IMO, is less opportunity for operator error. We use G10 lines to write offsets on all of our programs. So with this method, the setup guy is entering 1 set of coordinates. Not 13, or however many he needs. Fixture Tracking Macro.pdf
  24. I hadn't seen that yet when I had posted. I have a part I'm working on now with lots of pockets with small radii so I'll be giving it a shot.
