  1. I've learned to appreciate pre-selection, but I live in a 3-D world where I'm often building patches for my geometry. I'll look into X+. Where do I find it? I don't seem to remember.
  2. This has been bothering me for some time. I'm trying to find a way to do partial chains for translating geometry, etc...Right now I'm picking individual lines and arcs by filtering by color when working with geometry that has surfaces. This seems very cumbersome and time consuming. I could swear I was able to do this in V9. Am I missing something? Like something really obvious? lol
  3. Surface Contour or Scallop should work for finishing.
  4. I haven't found a way to do that. Right click your chain in Chain Manager. You'll see the options "Reverse" and "Change Sides." I think you usually have to do both to get what you want.
  5. I vaguely remember a Haas that did that. There was an oil cup up in the ram are that needed some spindle oil once in a while. Is this an older machine with the amber letters on the screen?
  6. I've worked with a couple of older vertical Okumas. I did not like them at all, these had a lot of issues with tool changers and just plain unpleasant method of setting up the work. Not as bad as a Fadal. Is there anything worse than a Fatal? LOL. Maybe the newer machines are better, dunno.
  7. It makes sense. That might have happened if the tool path took the settings from the previous operation. Right now I can't be sure but I'll be on the look out from now on.
  8. There are three lines in the contour. That's why I think it has to be a glitch.
  9. X7. No duplicate geometry. Can't say I ever saw it lock like this on a previous version. I'm not sure how long I would have to keep hitting OK for it to clear. I'll try to remember holding the Enter key the next time it happens.
  10. Every so often when doing a 2D tool path I get this error and no matter how many times I hit the OK button the window won't go away. The only solution that I have is starting Task Manager and killing Mastercam. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution? Thanks in advance.
  11. You can move that geometry to another level and then deselect "visible." Take a good look at your Level Manager.
  12. Well, Mastercam has some idiosyncrasies and you just met one. I agree that it SHOULD stay inside, but you just have to work around it.
  13. You need a surface where the you have the half round opening. Create a line at the ends of the arc and then create Surface Flat Boundary and add that surface to your selected geometry. That usually does it.
  14. That brings back memories of working with WorkNc about 17 years ago. Superb for cutting surfaces, but when it came to 2D work every task was an adventure. Luckily with had Hurco conversational and that took care of most of our 2D programming.
  15. If "Simplify" doesn't do it, then I usually try a "3 point arc" snapping into end, middle and other end. If I still need to refine the curvature I then break the spline in two and repeat the previous step for both curves. That's usually satisfactory for what I work with. I very rarely need to break splines beyond that.
  16. Maybe it's an X7 as of yet unannounced feature: grinding stock.
  17. Monday morning stench means anaerobic bacteria are farting under a floating level of oil and there's a build up of gas under that layer. Keep a fish tank aerator running over the weekend and you shouldn't experience the problem anymore. Unless you have other issues with the oil I wouldn't change it.
  18. Most Surface roughing tool paths would give tons of air cut time. Surface scallop finish with a boundary might work. You can do subsequent tool paths leaving stock. For example. Leave .100 on first tp . Leave .050 on second tp and son on.
  19. Yep. They upgrade us here. It would have been wiser to let Mastercam fix ALL issues before it was implemented.
  20. I can use the same tool for a couple of different toolpaths. Some are fine and some give me the error. Must be one of the bonuses of using in MC; the developers must be trying to stimulate my aging brain.
  21. I have rather limited connection to the cyber universe. It's just not in my powers to communicate directly. Let them do what they want. Pfft.....
  22. I'm getting a little window that says: Simulation No tool found for op #1 When i click OK then this window comes up: Simulation Error occurred in end session. No valid operation selected! Simulation will not start. The strange thing is it does not do it on all operations. Right now it does it on a Rough Parallel but not on Rough Radial or Finish Flowline. And yes, it is the very same tool. Anyone know what's going on here? We're talking about doing a re-install.
  23. Judging by the work we do here, there's really no choice for us. Customers require all sorts of different finishes and textures. That's just the nature of plastic injection molds.
