How often does your MC just SHUTDOWN?!?!

V9.1 MR0304 (latest maintence) Solids

 

I have been working and just had MC shutdown 5 times today. I NEVER used to have this problem!! All of a sudden over the past few weeks it seems it just keeps crapping out on me. WTF am I doing wrong that this is happening? Does this happen to anyone else on a consistant basis?

Did you just recently install maint.??

I had to actually uninstall all previous vers.

then reinstall maint. and voila' problems went

away. Thank you Glenn at Cadcam Consulting.

Mine shuts down quite a bit. Mostly when I click the NUKE button instead of the ARCHIVER button..

 

Note to self: Move Nuke button away from Archiver button.

Hardmill, what are you reffering to? Did you have to unistall all the main stuff then reinstall it?

Yes the "0904" , "0304" , "sp2".

Some say you can install over a previous ver.

but all I got was problems.

Been two weeks without a glitch.

May be coincedence but it worked.

I always do that on my laptop and my PC at home anyway.

teh birdman runs into that once in awhile but not 5 times a day. Usually when I have a large size file and I am doing a fine increment toolpath. if I have a large solid file it can cause some problems. My shortcut is to break up the file by the save some option. Or convert solid to surfaces in a separate file. Basically get some more ram involved.

Thats the real pisser to you guys, I was working on a 2D drawing, not that complicated. I have a Gig of RAM, I dont think the memory is an issue. I must have some other baggage somewhere. Thanks for the imput. Guess I will just take my driver to my box.

Do you have MR0304 or MU0904?

So Paul did you install MR0304 over SP2, or did you uninstall first?

I actually uninstalled MRu0904, Mr0304 and then

uninstalled Sp2 and so on if they where never

uninstalled.

Then did a fresh install of MR0304 and applied

MRu0904.

Worked for me

hmmm, you didnt need to re-install SP2? Unistall the MR's, unistall SP2, then install the MR's?

 

No, I never unistalled any of the updates. Is that the issue?

I was told it could be and so far so good.

May have something to w/ the registry, but

I'm registry retarded.

Glenn told me to do the uninstall method.

I would make very sure I did not have any spyware, virus's etc. My system did as you say when I got spyware in it one time. We use Ad-aware for that.

I have run Ad-Aware, Spybot, & Norton. I dont think it is a bug. It only happens with my MC. No other apps are prone to this unexpected shutdown.

 

I guess that is what is really frustrating. Thanks for the tip!

Hey Toolfab, I have had MC shutdown on me when I am working on an imported file. As odd as it seems, I rebooted, inported the file again & saved it immediately as an .MC9 file. Once I did that, no more problems. This is the only time that I have ever had MC do that to me.

When I convert into MC, the first thing I do is resave it as an MC9 file. Otherwise I forget, then half way thru I have to resave all my toolpaths to the proper NCI file.

I havn't studied what other people are advising but I would just save my stuff and do a fresh install.
